SCHOOL FUNDS BILL ACCEPTED IN COMMITTEE County Boards Created by Measure to Supervise Loans. A bill to authorize establishment of county school funds boards to make loans from the common school fund was reported favorably In the House of Representatives by the Ways and Means Committee today. The county auditor and clerk and ene appointive member would serve on the proposed board, and it would be meir responsibility to see that only safe loans are made from the school fund. In explaining the measure to the committee yesterday. Rep. Q A. East R. Bloomington) pointed out that counties now lose large sums of money through mismanagement of these funds "It will average a S-iOGO loss a year each year,’’ he said. ‘ and I think that if this measure is passed will save the taxpayers more money than any other one bill that will be introduced in this session.” Members of the committee declared that Marion County lost some $.10,000 a year through poor loans of this sort. T’ne committee returned a unanimous report favoring a measure to amend the delinquent tax iaw. This bill would provide that if there was no higher ridder, the county could buy property at delinquent tax sales after it had twice failed to sell for the amount of the taxes and penalties. It further provides that the county cou'd resell the real estate to acquired. Rep. John Napier Dyer <D., Vincennes) told the committee the amendment would take a large amount oi property off of rhe delinquent tax rolls, and would apply in cases where the delinquent taxes were more than the assessed value of the property. Road Bill Offered A measure designed to prevent cities and counties from using revenue from gasoline and vehicle tax funds for purposes other than road construction and maintenance was offered in the Senate yesterday by Frederick F. Eichhom <D„ Gary). The bill would provide that officials who prepare the budgets Shall state in what manner state funds are to be expended, nor can the state funds be expended unless they have been included in the budget estimates. License Bill Passes Present statutes requiring auto owners' certificates to be carried in metal containers will be repealed if the Senate concurs with the House in the passage of the Reisinger bill. The measure, which survived bitter opposition in the lower House, was adopted yesterday, 93-0. Another House bill adopted gave the Conservation Department authority to abridge or suspend open seasons on game and bag limits. Eighteen Representatives opposed adoption of a bill requiring safety glass in all motor vehicles sold after Jan. 1, 1936. Farm trucks and pleasure cars registered in other states are exempt. Marathon Bill Adopted Marathon dances and similar endurance contests are outlawed by an Indiana Senate bill concurred in bv the House of Representatives and sent to the Governor today. NEBULAR UNIVERSE OF STARS FARTHEST OUT CAUGHT BY CAMERA

Cal., Jan. 31.—Astronomy's "farthest out” of space, a faint nebular universe of stars three scxtillion miles <3.000.000.000.000.000 000.000 miles) from earth, has beer sighted by the world's largest (100-inch) telescope of the Carnegie Institution's Mt. Wilson observatory. Using anew, experimental photographic plate, the Mt. Wilson astronomers have thus extended the observational limits of the telescope approximately one-third. The nebula just discovered, whose estimated distance is 500 million light-years, is traveling through space outward at the amazing rate of 50.000 miles a second, or more than one-fourth as fast as light travels. DISEASE CONFERENCE OPENED AT SEVERIN Speakers Headline Program for Two-Day Parley Here. A two-day conference on communicable diseases will be opened in the Severin today. Speakers will include Mrs. Nellie S. Parks, assistant professor of nursing education of Western Reserve University; Dr. J. W. Jackson and Dr. Matthew Winters. Demonstrations of the pioper care of communicable diseases in the hospital and the home will be made at the closing session tomorrow.

Complaining that she was injured Jan. 20 when struck by a Union Cab, Mary Cull filed, suit in Superior Court 2 seeking $35,000 damages.
