'T'HE New York World-Telegram has been running a series of success love stones, dealing with the great and near-great. We have been so surfeited with failure love stories that we almost forgot there was any other kind. I wish it were possible for us to keep our minds on the statistics for successful marriage—not just the lovie-dovie romances which have endured for two or perhaps five years. No, I mean those magnificent battling matches of matrimony, in which husband and wife have come through quarrels, misunderstandings, disillusion, and at last, knowing the very worst of one another, have found also the best and attained companionship and peace. Jan. 24—Upon request of H. M. Cochrane, secretary of the Indiana Manufacturers Association, Senator Frederick Van Nuys has appealed to the State Department in an effort to exclude cement from the Belgian reciprocal trade agreement. Yesterday, the Senator received a reply from Francis B. Sayre. Assistant Secretary of State, which gave no assurances one way or another but said the appeal was being considered on merit.

The program will include music and Scotch dances, a group of Scotch songs by Mrs. J. W. Emhardt, an impersonation of Sir Harry Lauder by Harry Simpson and a presentation of Sir James M. Barrie's play, ‘ The Old Lady Shows Her Medals,” by a group of players from All Soul’s Unitarian Church.
