You have two losing cards, a heart and a spade; there’s only one place to put them; that is on the diamonds. Your contract is only for six odd; you need not try’ for seven. Lead the king of diamonds, discard a heart and let West win with the ace. When he returns the jack of hearts, win with the king and lead a trump, winning in dummy with the jack. Play the queen of diamonds and discard a heart. Now another diamond. ruff and then lead another club, winning in dummy with the queen. Lead the three of diamonds and trump with the ace of clubs. Return the king of trump, which picks up the last trump, and now you have the good four of diamonds in dummy on which to discard the losing spade. (Copyright, 1935. N’EA Service. Inc.)

TARZAN AND THE CITY OF GOLD
Dropping the carcass of Belthar, the victorious lion faced the astonished Cathneans with warning snarls; then he slowly backed to where the apeman stood, and stopped beside him, and Tarzau laid his hand upon the black mane of Jad-bal-ja. the Golden Lion, which was Tarzan’s friend.

THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES
For a moment, these two, man and lion, faced their enemies; then the weird cry of a woman broke the silence. It was Nemone. Slowly she stepped from her golden car and walked toward the dead Belthar. Motionless and wondering, her people watched her sandaled foot touch the mane of the royal lion.

The Queen gazed at *he beast’s carcass, then looked wildly about her. ‘Belthar is dead!” she screamed. Whipping her dagger from its sheath, she drove its glittering point deep into her own heart. The excited populace hastened back to the city to empty the cruel Nemone’s dungeons and proclaim Alextar King. The human service they had neglected, the ape-man performed, and as the mGon rose, Tarzan stood with bowed head beside the grave of unhappy Nemone, ill-fated queen, who had found happiness at last. <THE END)
