Five Acts to Be Diversion at Showboat Brennen, ‘Giant of Jazz/ Will Direct Dancing on Eve of 1935. The Showboat, Frank Cantwell’s barge of fun, will entertain those ringing out the old year with a fiveact floor show all presented to the music of Morrey Brennen, the "giant of jazz.” and his orchestra. The acts will be headed by Ballaid and LaPa, a dance team whose talents are not limited to dance. Miss Ballard has traveled with the Julia Dougherty show, acting as Julia’s double in blues singing. Fcedez and Laurenza. another dance group, will be seen in a series of acrobatic and tap numbers,'and Gordon Bennet, who made a name for himself in “The King of Jazz,” will present several Irish tenor noveltv songs. Jimmy and Frances Hill, wellknown Negro dance specialists from the Cotton Clubs of New York and Cleveland, will supplement the other acts with rhythm dances and tap ro will last until 5 a. m„ and Mi Liuuien, the heavyweight band master, will direct the dance activities.

Expert on Showboats Fred Kohler, menace in Bing Crosby's latest for Paramount, “Mississippi,” is right at home on the movie showboat. Born in St. Louis, he spent his childhood on the famous river. Actor Guarded King Ray Milland, featured player in Paramount’s “The Gilded Lily,” won a place in the British Household Cavalry, the King's personal bodyguard, because of his expert marksmanship.
