GIFTS ACCEPTED BY MEDICAL MUSEUM Old Hypodermic Syringe Among Offerings. Gifts from three Indianapolis persons have been accepted by the Indiana University Medical School Museum, it was anounced today. The museum was established in the university’s Medical Center on W. Michigan-st with the co-operation of the Indiana State Medical Society. Mrs. Fred Hoke gave, in commemoration of her father, the late Dr. Arbaces Cushman, Graysville, Sullivan County, several of his belongings. One was a hypodermic syringe of a style not often seen now and three volumes of office records that cover a period between 1874 and 1889 and show, among other things, that in that period physicians accepted corn and produce for their services. Miss Emma Schmidt, Indianapolis, gave 33 volumes of medical books and Dr. Robert Dearmin, Indianapolis, 28 volumes, and a copy of the 1878 transactions of the Indiana State Medical Association from Dr. D. L. Phipps, Whiteland.

CODES MAY BE FORCED ON ALL U. S. INDUSTRY
Question Before Recovery Board at Hearing of Cigaret Makers. Hy Scripps-Hatcard S’etcspapcr WASHINGTON. Dec. 14—The question of forcing uncoded industries to accept codification was directly before the National Industrial Recovery Board today. The cigaret manufacturing code, as yet unaccepted by any of the “big four” cigaret producers, has been transmitted to W. A. Harriman, NRA administrative officer, for submission to the NIRB. Other uncoded industries include anthracite coal, communications, press associations, shipping and meat packing. Two cigaret concerns outside the big four have indicated they will accept the code drafted by subordinate NRA officials if it is imposed on other producers. These are the Axton-Fishcr and Brown Williamson companies, which manufacture 10-cent brands. But the industry ’s code committee, at a meeting in New York last week, failed to respond to this challenge. The big four have been holding out for a 25-cents-an-hour minimum wage, whereas NRA demanded 35. S. Clay Williams of the Reynolds Tobacco Cos., who resigned the code committee chairmanship to become head of the NIRB. has said he wculd not participate in the board's discussions when tobacco is involved. Retail price-fixing for cigarets also will come before the board again soon, as the 25-cent minimum for two packs of "big four” brands expires Jan. 11. A vigorous attempt from within the board to scrap this provision is assured. METHODIST GROUP TO HOLD BENEFIT BAZAR Emergency Committee Schedules Christmas Event. The Emergency Fund Committee of the Edwin Ray Methodist Episcopal Church, Laurel-st and Wood-lawn-av. will hold a Christmas bazar in the basement of the church, beginning at 1 tomorow afternoon. Sale of all sorts of gifts and novelties will be featured and a bake sale will be held in connection with the bazar. Mrs. Charles C. Heuss is general chairman of the affair.
