GO-ORDINATION OF U. S. LAW FORCmiRGED Federal Supervision Sought for Unified Drive on Crime. Bt VnH'tf Pmi WASHINGTON, Dec. 13—The Attorney General'* conference on crime end* today with 600 delegateexpert* determined to eatablish-a permanent national institute of criminology. The institute would wage a relentless fight against the public enemy, whether dope peddler or bank robber, kidnaper or forger, and so attempt to slash the country’s annual $12.000 000 000 crime bill. The conferees, who have said that the country's law enforcement agencies must be reorganized and co-ordinated, intended to adopt resolutions at their closing session late today recommending that the conference be beld annually. They also sought a permanent body of their leaders, guided by the attorney general, to keep the anticrime crusade alive. The plans are somewhat* nebulous, but advocates hopes that from this body eventually will rise the criminology institute. It would have headquarters in Washington, officers appointed from Federal, state, local and private agencies interested in crime prevention, and would be charged specifically with pointing all the nation's law forces against the underworld. Combined, these forces are tremendous. Scattered, they have been inefficient. Many times they have pulled against each other, over such petty things as which agency gets credit for a capture. Financing of the institute hardly has reached the discussion stage. Some advocates favor contributions from Federal, State and local governments. others hope that private philanthropic agencies will provide funds. Atty. Gen. Homer S. Cummings. who has obtained from Congress numerous reforms of Federal criminal statutes, believes the organization is imperative. 38 STATES"URGED TO PASS NARCOTIC LAWS Uniform Statutes to Control Dope Evil, Is Goal of U. S. By Unit' and Pretn WASHINGTON, Dec. 13.—Legislatures in thirty-eight states will be urged by Federal authorities to en- j act stringent and uniform narcotic statutes to end the drug traffic, it j was learned today. The decision to lead the move- j ment for unification of state statutes follows the recent nation- I wide raids by Federal agents, which resulted in more than 800 arrests. The “mopping up” process still is underway as the raiders continue efforts to deal a death blow to the traffic. STATE PEACE GROUP ELECTS NEW OFFICERS Renews Pledge to Promote World Court Acceptance. Renewing its pledge to promote American acceptance of the World Court and an exhaustive investigation of the munitions industry, the Indiana World Peace Committee elected Dr. William F.
