TRAFFIC SQUAD VETERAN DIES; RITES ARE SET Charles 0. Johnson, on Force Since 1911. to Be Buried Tomorrow. Funrral services for Charles O. Johnson. veteran member of the Indianapolis police department, who was 74 years old. will be conducted by the Rev. John G. Benson at 1:30 tomorrow at the Flanner Buchanan mortuary. Cremation will follow Mr .Johnson, who for the last 18 months was traffic policeman at Capitol-av and Ohio-st, died yesterday at his home. 885 N. Keystone-av. He was appointed to the department April 14. 1911. Surviving Mr Johnson are two dons, Ralph E Johnson and William E Johnson, and two daughters. Mrs. L. H Gilman and Mrs. R. H Showalter, all of Indianapolis. John Joyce Is Dead Last services for John Joyce, who died yesterday at his home in New Bethel, will be held Thursday morning in the New Bethel Baptist church wuth burial in the Acton cemetery. Mr Joyce, who was 86. was a merchant in New Bethel. He was a member of the Baptist church, the Kniehts of Pythias and the Masonic order. Mr. Joyce is survived by four sons. C. O. Joyce. Jesse P. Joyce. William E. Joyce and Leon Joyce. * and a daughter, Mrs. Olhe Koch, New Bethel. Mrs. Owen Succumbs Pinal rites for Mrs. Harriet A. Owen, a resident of Indianapolis 23 years, will be held at 3 tomorrow at the home. 540 Somerset-av, with bunal in Floral Park cemetery. Mrs. Owen died yesterday after a long illness. She was 62.' She was a member of the Betsy Ross Federation. Surviving Mrs. Owen are the widower, James Owen, and eight children, Mrs. Bertha Ludwig. Gilvie Owen, Fred Owen, Harold Owen. Arthur Owen an<f Herbert Owen, all of this city, and Mrs. Effie Millard. Miami Beach. Fla., and Mrs. Edith Boles. Walnut Cove, N. C.; two sisters. Mrs. Ethan Brammcll, Indianapolis. and Mrs. Anna Barnes. Peoria. 111., and a brother, Christian Bplcher, Valparaiso. The Rev S. W. Hartsock. Tabernacle Baptist Church pastor, will officiate at the services, assisted by the Betsy Ross Federation, James Buchanan Passes Christian Science funeral services Will be held for James D. Buchanan, salesman who died Sunday night at 8 tonight at the Flanner <fc Buchanan mortuary. Cremation will follow. Mr Buchanan was 56 and lived at 4030 N. Capitol-av. Fred Sharp, captain of the Franklin Polo and. Saddle Club indoor polo team, awarded the Indiana Saddle Horse Association trophy to Culver Military Academy's team after the cadets won two matches last week-end. The teams have met on the opening of Culver’s season for three successive years, and the games will be played annually in competition for the association cup.

Piccard Gondola Coming Here The gondola in which Prof. Jean Piccard and Mrs. Piccard sealed themselves last October and ascended to thp stratosphere will be on display in Indianapolis next week starting Monday at the Denison Plaza, between the hours of 10 a. m. and 10 p. m.
