SCOTTISH RITE LEADER NAMED DINNER SPEAKER
Milwaukee Man to Address Convocation Banquet Here Thursday. Rituali-sUc ceremonies for a fall clas of more than one hundred will terminate Thursday night when Herbert Norman Laflin, Milwaukee, Wis., will deliver an address at the convocation banquet of Indianapolis Rite, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite. Mr. Laflin. many years a leader in York and Scottish Rite Masonry, Is a past grand master of tne grand lodge of Wisconsin and active member for that state in the supreme council. Other notables expected to take part in the program will be Dr. Gaylord M. Leslie, Ft. Wayne, deputy for Indiana, and Alfred M. Glossbrenner, Indianapolis, active for the state; Paul E. Fisher, thrice potent master of the Lodge of Perfection. Class reunions will begin tomorrow, when the Golden Jubilee Class will meet at 6. The Robert G. McClure Class will hold a business meeting and election Thursday noon and at 5 the Edmund B. Ball Class will assemble. Ritualistic ceremonies will begin tomorrow morning when the second section candidates will take the oath of fealty to the supreme council and witness conferring of the Fourth to Fourteenth Degrees. Mr. Laflin will be honored Thursday noon at the Cathedral at a meeting of the Thirty-third Degree members of the Rite. Frank E. Gavin is president and J. Ralph Fenstermaker is secretary of the Rite. TYPOGRAPHICAL UNION ' TURNS DOWN CHANGES Votes Against Four Amendments to Its Constitution. Three proposed amendments to the constitution and general laws of the International Typographical Union were voted down yesterday by members of Indianapolis Local No. 1. They were a proposal that no subordinate union shall make a contract for a work week in excess of 40 hours and prohibiting a member from holding a situation obligating him to work more than 40 hours; a proposal to make the second vicepresident a full-tune officer; and a proposal to specify the form of charters to be granted to local unions.

By Time* Special COLUMBUS, Dec. 10.—Emil E. Leppert. Indianapolis salesman, has accepted SIOO In settlement of his $20,000 damage suit against Dr. John C. Kincaid, Taylorsville. The suit was filed in Bartholomew Circuit Court here. The defendant is to pay the court costs. The case was based on injuries incurred by Mr. Leppert when automobiles driven by Dr. Kincaid and Charles Mendenhall collided one mile south of Franklin on May 15, 1932. Mr. Leppert was a passenger in the Mendenhall car.
a a a Veteran Teacher Dies By Time* Special MARION, Dec. 10.—Miss Alsa Jane Thomas, a Marion school teacher for more than 30 years, is dead, a victim of heart disease. Miss Thomas had served as a member of the executive committee of the Indiana State Teachers Association and as president of the Marion unit of the Business and Professional Women's Club and the Marion Teachers Federation. At the time of her death she was secretary of the Grant County Tuberculosis Association. a a a Slot Machines Banned SHELBYVILLE, Dec. 10.—Shelby County must be cleared of slot machines, Circuit Judge James A. Eramert declared when he fined Russell Booher $25 for having one of the devices in his Wayside Inn, three miles north of here. Judge Emmert aided officers in demolishing the machine which Booher possessed. a a a Widow Sues GREENSBURG, Dec. 10.—Damages of SIO,OOO are asked in a suit filed in Decatur Circuit Court here by Mrs. Jean Buell, w'idow of Scott Buell, who was killed May 7 this year in an explosion at a bulk gasoline station. The Decatur County Co-operative Association, his employer, is defendant. It is alleged in the suit that a spark from a knife type of electric switch ignited the gas fumes as Mr. Buell operated the switch to shut off current to gasoline pump motors.

MURAT TEMPLE TO MAKE FINAL JUBILEE PLANS
Shriners Prepare for Golden Anniversary Event Friday. Final arrangements for the colorful fiftieth anniversary ceremonial of Murat Temple Friday afternoon and night, will be made tomorrow night at a meeting called by Carson B. Harris, Bloomington, golden jubilee chairman. All members of the Murat uniformed units and of every ceremonial committee have been invited to attend the .session to arrange the details of the program in which more than 6000 Shriners will participate. The group of fraternal notables coming here for the ceremonial will be headed by Dana S. Williams, imperial potentate for North America. Shriners from three states also are expected. Decoration of the mosque, where the ceremonial meetings will be held, began today with a flag-raising ceremony at 2. Business houses, particularly those along the line of march for Friday afternoon’s parade, have agreed to decorate their buildings with the Shrine colors of red, green and yellow, together with the national colors. Capt. Vernon G. Sheller of Murat Patrol, today announced the line of march. The procession will move west on .Michigan-st from Murat Mosque, thence south on Pennsyl-vania-st to Market-st, and west to the northeast segment of Monument Circle where the visiting dignitaries

Johnson, the 60-piece Murat band, the Shrine Arab patrol and the Murat Gun Club, with full drum and bugle corps, and the Murat Chanters. Five other shrine temples will send delegation!.. Louisville will send a band and patrol, as will Hadi Temple, Evansville. Other temples expected to participate are Zorah, Terre Haute; Orak, Hammond; Mizpah, Ft. Wayne. The parade will get under way at 2. The official reception of the imperial potentate and other dignitaries will follow and at 4 the ritualistic section will start. Herchel M.
