TAXI SLUGGING REPORT PROBED Beaten and Robbed by Cab Customers, Victim Says at Hospital. John Alberts. 32. of 127 South Noble street was taken to city hospital today suffering from a possible concussion of the brain or fracture of the skull received in a mysterious taxicab slugging last night. Mr. Alberts, unable to give police an actual statement, said that after a midnight lunch in the Lincoln restaurant. 200 block. East Washington street, last night, he hailed a cab in which, besides the driver, he discovered two men and two women. They drove him to Tom and Howdy's Inn on Road 67. he said, and there slugged and robbed him of a billfold containing $3. He added that he then was deprived of his shoes and forced to walk while his tormentors threatened to take of! his trousers if he did not give them th** rest of his money. Mr Alberts said he finally was brought back to the city and dropped off at a track elevation a block south of Washington street on South East street. He said he went home and went to bed. When he called police, they discovered his injuries and sent him to the hospital. Mr Alberts said that he had been drinking, but was not drunk. He was unable to give a description of his alleged assailants.

McCormick, reaper magnate, by Mrs. Rhoda Tanner Doubleday. New York society divorcee who last July settled a $1,500,000 breach of promise suit against him, attorneys disclosed here today. She demanded damages from Mr. McCormick, the Good Samaritan hospital here and his attorneys on the charge the individuals conspired to obtain privileged information about her from hospital records to be used in the manufacturer's defense of her breach of promise suit.
