CITY PAINTER SUCCUMBS TO BLAST BURNS Co-Worker Is Reported in Serious Condition at Hospital. Clifford Miller. 27. of 248 North 1 Seville avenue, died today in Methodist hospital of burns received yes- ; terday afternoon in an explosion at | the Sheldrake apartments, 2253 North Meridian street. Mr. Miller and Joseph Hauler ; HamnLsh. 54. of 2723 North Illinois street, both pointers, were cleaning j their brushes ;n the basement of the j Sheldrake when the cleaning fluid became limited. Both were burned badly and Mr. HamniSh still wain a §eriou, condition today at Methodist hospital. Also taken to Methodist hospital ! were H. B. Ounr.entan, 50. of 2275 i Madison avenue, a painter, who was j working in another part of the; Sheldrake at the time of the explo- j sion. and Wayne Jones. 24. Sheldrake custodian. Mr. Gunneman and Mr. Jones, neither'of whom was burned rioudy, received their injuries in an ' attempt to rescue Mr. Miller and Mr. Harnmsh. The new Progressive party, which he led to victory in Wisconsin, is a fundamental outgrowth of the depression. Senator Robert M. La Fol*> iette said today. Senator La Follette, supported in Tuesday’s election by the informal indorsement of President Roosevelt, said that he "never assumed the role of a prophet” and that consequently he would not comment upon the political importance of his victory. “I have said repeatedly that I felt certain that the crisis was of such a fundamental nature that it was bound to produce political realignments in this country, just as ; the fundamental crisis of human slavery produced a political realign- j ment prior to the Civil war, ’ he ex- ; plained.
