' Democrats and Republican*, or organisation and non-organization.” Fuch a man. he said, is Mr. HarI rison. Mr. Rucker attributed his .support j of Mr. Harrison not to the ticket h is on. but to “his courage, intelligence. and will to maintain the high j standard of the office of prosecuting attorney. Mr Harrison will grant no favors to silk-stocking not accorded to overalls, Mr. Rucker said. “We need another Harrison in In- I dpea to sign anew Declaration of i InfTepe.idrnce against favoritism, politics and supineness in public station " he declared in conclusion.

I.—Wreckage of the motorship St. Roi David picked up along the St. Lawrence river, today raised fears that thirteen lives had been lost in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Unreported since Sunday, when one of the worst gales of the season lashed the Atlantic seaboard it was feared that there was little likelihood that any of the crew of five and possibly eight passengers had survived. SPANISH REVULT TO FLARE AGAIN SOON. lULAIM Asturias Miners Ready to Fight Nov. 23: Madrid Heavily Armed. 'Copyright. 1934. bv United Press! MADRID. Nov. I.— Miners of the Asturias region, last to capitulate in the recent Socialist revolt, are determined to revolt again and some of them name Nov. 23 as date for a new uprising, it was learned today. Vast stores of arms remain in the hands of Socialists, Syndicalists and Communists not alone in Asturias, but in Madrid, it was learned. The aftermath of the Socialist revolt has made clear also three important facts: 1. The revolt failed, if for no other reason, because its leaders, aghast at the bloodshed, did not turn over to their men the arms they stored in Madrid, their big arsenal. • 2. While the revolt leaders really aimed at returning the government to its early left-wing Republican b n nt, hot-headed youths turned the revolt into one aimed at a dictatorship of the proletariat and advanced its date from mid-October to Oct. 5. 3. If any revolt of left wing elements succeeded in Spain, it would bring another one headed by a military dictator. The most vivid impression brought back to Madrid by those who visited the Asturias region is not the vision of the smoking ruins of the city of Oviedo, the usual, a'nd usually untrue, stories of atrocities, nor even the sight of the bodies lying in the streets under the hot sun. It is that despite the destruction and death, the Asturias miners are not downcast but are proud of their fight and are determined to start another revolt as soon as possible. They are surrendering to the soldiers such arms as are found only that they may be left alone to prepare for the next uprising.
