r PHE wardens are optimistic about chances for good fishing this week-end. The water nearly everywhere is in fine condition and all that is needed is for the temperamental fish to start hitting. Certainly they should be getting empty soon, as they have been on a hunger strike for two or three weeks. The moon or the weather or something has beep wrong, and there should be a lot of vacant spares to be filled by lures of patient fishermen. Here's what the wardens sav: Shafer and Freeman lakes are clear in White county, writes Warden Roth. Crappies and silver bass are hitting well; bluegills fair. From Noble and Dekalb, Warden Orossman reports angling qu. t at present. Some good catches of ’gills fc on Sylvan, Round, Cree and some of the smaller lakes. Water levels in streams and lakes remains low. Duck hunting quiet; too early for flights. Kosciusko lakes are lower than normal, says Warden Eaton. Fishing has not been so good, though many are trying. Bluegills and crappies biting fairly well in shallow water. Clinton and Boone streams are low and fish are biting well, writes Warden Anderson. Several fishermen have taken the limit of bass on Sugar creek on live bait. From Fayette. Union and Franklin, Warden Mitchell reports all streams clear and fishing good, including the east and west forks of White water and Salt creek. All Warren and Fountain streams clear and fish are biting fine, says Warden Meredith. From Vigo and Clay, Warden Morgan writes that streams are in fine shape for the week-end. This includes the Wabash and Eel rivers, Otter creek. Walton lake, South pit and Greenfield bayou. Bass and crappies are taking live bait in the White river below Seymour, writes Warden Crecelius from Jackson county. Sand creek and the Muscatatuck are also in fine shape. Rush and Decatur streams are clear and low', says Warden Lacey. This includes Sand creek, Allens, Lake McCoy, Big Four reservoir, Big and Little Blue rivers and Flat Rock. From Parke and Vermillion, Warden Havel reports creeks and rivers all clear. Some nice bass have been taken from deep holes in Sugar creek. A few mallards on the Wabash. I Bartholomew streams, including RVhite river, Clifty, Sand creek, Driftwood and Flat Rock, are in \xcellent condition, writes Warden perron. From Shelby. Warden Casady reports all streams low and clear. DSrandywine and the Little Blue have more water and are in better shape than some of the other streams.
