HARRISON GIVES HIS PLEDGE FOR BANKING ACTION
Complete Investigation Will Be Made, Says G. 0. P. Candidate. Complete, personal investigation cf pending bank failure cases and vigorous prosecution if evidence indicates criminal acts, was promised today by William Henry Harrison, Republican candidate for Marion County prosecutor, as his first official duty if elected. Mr. Harrison declared if he is elected prosecutor he will present any evidence of criminal wrongdoing to the grand Jury with instructions to act without further delay. ‘II the men in these bank failures are innocent, it is an injustice to , let these cases go on," Mr. Harrison declared. "If they are guilty of criminal acts, they should be pun- j lshed without delay. Depositors in ; the defunct banks are entitled to know the facts. Investigation Is Promised “If the people of Manon county i entrust me with the responsibilities j of the prosecutor's office,” Mr. Har- I risen asserted, "I will consider it my ' first duty personally to investigate j any pending bank failures upon which the statute of limitations has not run.” Immediate investigation of major crimes by at least one deputy who would report immediately to the i scene of offenses committed in Marion county, is prominent among the planks of Mr. Harrison’s campaign 1 platform. Through such an investigation, Mr. Harrison believes, first-hand information for the use of the prosecutor concerning the crime will be available, and all proper legal evidelice will be collected on the spot. Seven-Point Platform The Harrison platform covers seven points. The first calls for the aggressive operation of the office of prosecutor, through the appointment of qualified and competent investigators; timely knowledge of all crime conditions in city and county; securing evidence through the office and staff and immediate action on the part of the prosecutor when other law enforcing agencies fail. Efficient and economical operation is taken up in the second plank. Vigorous and unsympathetic prosecution of old offenders, no deals with criminals, prompt and courteous action round out the pledges.
