Using unemployed teachers as instructors. the two organizations will form and supervise classes in adult education in every county. It is planned to organize five or more such classes in every county which desires to participate. Classes may consist of not less than twentyfive students. Three teachers will conduct each group of five classes, meeting one night each week for a three-hour period. Special courses of study in leadership. leisure time projects and recreation will be offered. They are being planned by a committee composed of Mr. McMurray, Robert E.

INSTITUTE HELD BY COUNTY TEACHERS Gathering Held on Eve of School Opening. More than 380 Marion county school teachers met today at Warren Central high school in the annual teachers’ institute preparatory to the opening tomorrow of the schools of the county outside Indianapolis when approximately 13.000 pupils are expected to register

to establish anew attendance record. J. Malcolm Dunn, county schools superintendent, presided. The schools will be closed Sept. 5 to permit pupils to participate in the Education day program at the state fair. Attendance of teachers at the fair is mandatory. Dr. W. E. J. Gratz. Epworth Herald editor, was the principal speaker at today's institute. Featured during the Educational day program at state fair will be a reproduction of a log school of the 1834 period. Pupils and school master will be dressed in costumes of the period.

SCHOOL RATE FIXED FOR BEECH GROVE $32,165 Budget Approved After Hearing. An 88-cent tax rate and a $32.165.41 budget was approved last j night by members of the Beech Grove board of school commission- | ers. Paul Allen and R. C. Wright, board members, held a public hear--1 ing in the high school offices, and

when no one protested the budget, St was adopted as prepared. Although the tax rate for maintenance of the schools will be 1 cent higher next year, the budget actually is S7OO less, L. B. Mann, school superintendent, and board members pointed out. The increase in ra f e was due to decreased assessed valuations, the board said.
