1.500 IN CAST OF CHICAGO'S IRISH PAGEANT Colorful Event Will Open at Soldier Field Next Tuesday. By Tim'* fp'rlnl CHICAGO. Aug 24.—After months of planning and work. “The Pageant of the Celt" is ready for presetnation at Soldier field next Tuesday and Wednesday nights, under the auspices of Irish Historical Productions. Inc., of which John V Ryan is president. From every part of Chicago, talent has been recruited to assume the leading roles and to fill the ensembles. The pageant deals with the high spots of Irish history from the coming of the Milesians, centuries before the dawn of the Christian era, down to the present time Edward J Scanlon, general stage director of the Mumclpal Opera of St. Louis, is directing. Mr Scanlon is assisted by subsidiary directors. Michael MacLlammoir and Hilton Edwards, both recently arriving from the Gate theater. Dublin, also have Joined the .staff. "The Pageant of the Celt” Is designed to reveal the historical background of the Irish people and to acquamt the public with certain phases of that culture. The costumes which will be worn by the 1,000 actors and 500 dancers who will participate are all authentic, designs having been procured from the Irish Costume Society of Dublin STATE'S ‘BEST FLIER' JOINS AIR TOUR AGAIN Trophy Winner Will Defrnd Laurels in Event. Clarence Cornish. Ft. Wayne municipal airport manager and present holder of the Lincoln Life aviation trophy, announced today that he would enter the sixth annual allIndiana air tour. Sept. 10. The Lincoln Life trophv is awarded annually to the best flier on the tour. Mr. Cornish will fly a 300horse power Ryan cabin monoplane.

Henry Hegeme>er Several thousand Indianapolis residents of German birth or extraction are expected to visit Columbia park Sunday for the annual picnic of the Federation of German Societies, of which Henry Hegemeyer is president. The program will include a songfest by the city's German musical societies and an exhibition of calisthenics by the Indianapolis and South Side Tumvereins. There also will be games for children. Last year's German picnic attracted between 7,000 and 8.000. CARNIVAL FEATURES DEDICATION AT POOL New Lights Installed at Scout Swimming Tank. A water carnival featured the dedication of new lighting facilities for the Boy Scout reservation swimming pool last night. The equipment was donated by Paul H. Keller. Included in the carnival, staged by R. D. Hammer, scout swimming director, were a shadow swim with three tiers of natators, swimming merit badge demonstrations, and performances by William Cook. Robert Brown and Charpie and by George Murphy and his marine band.
