udgment of township advisory j boards, the county council, the county tax adjustment board and the active interest of the property taxpa vmg public, Mr. Taylor saya. Whether or not the tax again will be lowered next year is up to township advisory boards and county council meetings Sept. 4. Every citizen of the state legally lis invited to be present at these meetings, and property taxes will be lower only when property owners attend these meetings and demand ; lower taxes. Mr. Taylor contends. According to Mr Taylor, property taxes should not exceed 50 cents on each SIOO in any rural county in the state. This rate, he says, will be the maximum when a net income tax law is added to the gross income. intangible and excise tax laws, and rates now fixed in these laws so changed by the general assembly that incomes from all sources are taxed equitably. From revenues derived from gross income, intangible and excise taxes during the eight months of last year, Marion county has received $840.494 40 which was used largely to
pay school costs, heretofore paid from property taxes. Mr. Taylor points out. Marion county has paid $2,716126 42 in gross income, intangible and excise taxes, which means that it has paid more than it has received. This situation is not unfair to the eleven large counties in the state which have paid more than they have received, Mr. Taylor says, for in them is concentrated a large part of the wealth of the state. These new taxes reach 75 per cent or more of the state s total income that heretofore practically has escaped all taxation, Mr. Taylor says. He admonishes property owners to think twice before permitting repeal of the new tax spreading laws. Tammany Brave Dies B>i United Pm* NEW YORK. Aug. 23 Edward J.
