ARCHITECTS GET SLUM CONTRACT Harrison & Russ to Draw Plans for $2,500,000 Project. Merrtt Harrison and William E. Russ. Indianapolis architects, have been awarded the architectural contract for the Indianapolis slum clearance project, it was announced today. ” Notice of the contract award came from Carl Fereuson. local project manager of the federal emergency housing corporation. The project, which will be exclusively for Negro tenants, will cost approximately $2.500 000 and consist of 1,000 one, two and three-room apartment units. Area for slum clearance comprises about twenty-two acres and Is bounded by Indiana avenue and Blake, North and Locke streets. Legal means to clear titie to the land is expected to get under way next month. Mr. Ferguson said.
