SCOTLAND YARD FOR U. S. HELD IMPOSSIBLE' System Not Feasible in America. Cummings Tells Club. tty f n<r>d Pr.# SAN FRANCISCO Aug- 17—A police 'system similar to London s Scotland Yard is not feasible in the United Suites. Attorney-Gen-eral Homer Cummings said here yesterdav. 'The area of the United States is one thing that stands in the way of creating such an organization.” Mr. Cummings said in a perch before the Commonwealth Club. As an illustration he reviewed the kidnaping of Charles F Ursche!, millionaire Oklahoma oil man. 'Urschel was kidnaped m Oklahoma, held captive in a remote rural section of Texas. Tire ransom money was paid m Missouri, and a portion of it was exchanged in Minnesota Another portion of i‘ was hidden in Texas The guilty parties were located in Texas Colorado. Tennessee, Minne ota and Illinois. • The area of these seven slates is greater than that of Austria. Denmark, France. Germany. I'aiy, Ho.land, Switzerland. England. Scotland and Wales combined. The country covered in apprehending those guilty in the Urshel case is out of all comparison with the limited area of such a country as England.” JUNIOR W. C. T. U. INSTALLS OFFICERS l>eU Barthwaite. FIN RADIATION 1 IS FEATURED IN VICTORFURNACE Efficient Heating Unit Has Been Manufactured Here 43 Years. . Warm-air heating rather than hot-air heating characterizes the heating systems installed accord- j ing to the standard code which is used by the Hall-Neal Furnace j Company. Air temperatures of only j 135 degrees at the warm-air registers are common in these well- I planned systems. Best heating re- j suits depend on the movement of the maximum quantity of air through the heating system. The efficiency of the furnace depends on the amount of heating surface presented for contact with the air. Patented fin radiation found only on the Victor Deluxe furnace insures greater heating efficiency because of the greater amount of hot metal to radiate heat. Greatly increased air circulation is also caused j by the fin radiation because of the i correspondingly increased air ve- | locitv. Too much can not be said about the merits of fin radiation in heating systems which uses the ; same principle which has made it possible for the airplane to reach its present high efficiency. The Victor warm air heating system is particularly adapted to humidification of the air. The means of evaporating water is part of the furnace and ! there is no extra expense for its installation. Humidity and temperature are so closely related to comfort that direct humidification is a valuable feature. The Victor furnace has been manufactured continuously in Indianapolis for forty-three years and has built an enviable record for clean, healthful heating and fuel economy. ; The company specializes in the i cleaning and repairing of all make | furnaces, and they invite you to j visit the salesroom and factory at 1324 North Capitol avenue, where • Victor furnaces are on display. SUGGESTS COAL PURCHASE NOW Monument Firm Official Cites Lower Price and Better Service. Well supplied with modern, up-to-date equipment the Monument Coal Company, 701 East Washington street, is able to handle any size order without delay. The company has a fleet of twelve dump trucks of large capacity, manned by efficient operators who use balloon-tired wheelbarrows. By using electric loaders, an order for a truck load of coal is on its way two minutes after it has been received. This has led to the slogan of the company, "A phone call starts a truck.” The suggestion is made by Richard W. Tubbs, company official, that coal should be bought now. Lower price and better service is obtainable now than will be the case in the winter rush. This company recently contracted to fill the coal needs of the Real Silk Hosiery Mills.

COUNTY BOASTS MODERN BATH TISSUE PLANT White River Paper Mill Output Sold Widely in Indiana. That Indianapolis possesses one of the most modern bathroom tissue factories in the United States is a fact that is not known to the average man in the street. That this plant—the White River Paper Mills —is also the only bathroom tissue factory in Marion county is likewise not- generally known. This factory is known as the White River Paper Mills and its principal products are Sealskin, Lambkin and So-Soft bathroom tissue. Its Sealskin brand is the most widely sold toilet tissue in the state of Indiana. This is the brand which introduced to the housekeepers of America what is known as the only improvement made in bathroom tissue in the last twenty-five years. This improvement is a self-open-ing tab which does away entirely with the need to use paste in finishing the roll. One pull on the patented Sealskin tab and the tissue is unwrapped. Other Sealskin features which for years have been stressed by the makers are its purity and softjiess. Paint Resists Stains Manufacturers are now producing paint- products which resist iodine stains, wagon grease and bacon smoke, all of which wash off without the use of scouring powder. A w ide variety of attractive colors and finishes are available for kitchen, bathroom and other surfaces subjected to hard wear or unusual conditions.
