Collier's crack reporter, who has made a national survey of the hard liquor problem, is the author of "The Same Old Demon.” in which he analyzes the failure of repeal to banish the bootlegger. Savs Mr Davenport' "Perhaps a uniform dispensing and selling system wouldn't be the complete answer either, but a quick look at the existing situation won't do you any harm. It may even amuse you. Anyway, twenty-nine states and the District of Columbia are. at this moment, wet. There may even be more by the time you read this. For our immediate purpose, it doesn't matter It is important only in that it means twenty-nine systems of liquor dispensing. And when you have any more than one system, even a poor one. controlling any one industry, you are apt to have unadulterated chaos. But. at any rate, Indiana has! earned the reputation of "doing everything but pay the bootlegger a bonus.”

South Side Civic Club Leader Buried Today

Final Rites Are Held for James H. Foster, League Official. Funeral services for James Hodgson Faster. 30. of Arlington avenue and lona road, who died Friday, were to be held at 2 today in the Hcnningcr Methodist Episcopal church. Mr. Foster was a former secretary of the central committee of South Side Civic clubs and an organizer of the Arlington-Raymond Civic League. He was Scoutmaster of Boy Scout Troop 9. Burial was to be in Washington Park cemetery. Survivors are the widow. Mrs. Margaret M. Foster, his parents. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Foster and a sister. Miss Amelia Foster. Attorney's Father Buried Funeral services for Augustus Dwight Babcock, 81. Goodland. father of James E. and Charles C Babcock. Indianapolis attorneys, vere held Saturday afternoon at Goodland. Mr. Babcock, who had been a practicing attorney in Goodland for many years, died there Thursday. He was the founder of the Open Door Museum there. Survivors, besides the two Indianapolis sons, are the widow, Mrs. Maggie Babcock, and a third son. A. D. Babcock. Ft. Wayne. City Man, 72. Dead William Maddox. 72. of 546 Grover street, died of natural causes in his home last night.

Schneider Sons, Inc., merchant tailors, have leased a suite of rooms on the third floor of the Illinois building. The firm will move from its present location at 29 West Ohio street about Sept. 1. Carl Weiss, owner of the storeroom at 2208 North Meridian street, has leased the property to E. S. Meyer, Indianapolis. Mr. Meyer has opened a bar and restaurant at this location. The entire first floor and casement of the business building at 229 West Washington street has been leased by J. C. Schaf Jr., Indianapolis, and Mrs. Alice Schaf Perrin. Los Angeles, the owners, to Russell T. Richey, Indianapolis, for anew furniture store. Indianapolis Tomorrow Phi Gamma Delta, dinner, Athenaeum. Rotary Club, luncheon. Claypool.
