Interest at Lake Colony Centers on National Tennis Event

Aug. 4.—Maxinkuckee's younger set usually may be found lolling around on the docks about the lake, or enjoying a sail over the rippling waters or taking a quick spin across the lake and back in one of the fast speed boats on Maxinkuckee. Jane Adams. Betsy Home. Mary Birch Ingram. Johnnie Ray Newcomb. Bud'" Home. Norm Michels, and Sam Foster may be found most any afternoon on the Home or Adams pier ready to enjoy the lake sports. Many cottagers, old as well as young, anxiously are waiting the national junior and boys tennis tournament which will start Monday on the courts of Culver Military Academy Captain J. H Bishop will v m charge of the meet. The outstanding players in these two classes are entered and strong competition is anticipated. Dr. and Mrs. Jewett V. Reed and Mi.-a Betty Weier. MLss Betsy Barlow spent the first part of the week visiting Miss Mary Jo Albright at her parents' cottage on the lake. Mrs. Cone Barlow and daughter Dorothy and son Whitney came Wednesday to Locust Bluff to spend August. Mrs. Chester Albright has as her house guests Mrs. Alice Albright and Guy Albright. Danville, 111. Misses Marie and Margarite Blackwell have returned to their home in Indianapolis after visiting Mrs. Chester Robinson and family at their summer home on the east shore. Guests at the D. L. Fisher cottage on the west shore this week are Mrs. Edward Drompp, Miss Helen Drompp. and Jack Himmelberger. all of Lake Wales. Fla. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Himmelberger and daughter. Louise Himmelberger. are guests at the (JTrissmond cottage on Long Point this week. SOCIETY voiced its approval of polo last Sunday when hundreds visited the Rolling Ridge field to see the Rolling Ridge team play the Iroquois Hunt and Polo Club team of Lexington, Ky. From open roadsters, limousines and sedans spectators looked on in cartwheel hats and smoked glasses. Horns blarea wnen the local team made its scores and when players made spectacular drives down the field. Conrad Ruckelshaus was No. 2 man on the team and between chukkers he wrapped himself in a heavy black and white plaid coat and canary yellow scarf. His father, John C. Ruckelshaus, watched the game with another son's wife, Mrs. John K. Ruckelhaus and son Jackie. Mrs. Samuel B. Sutphin saw her husband make the two goals for the Rolling Ridge team. She talked to her son, Dudley V. Sutphin, also a player, and watched the proceedings “behind the" scenes” between chukkers. Fred Sharp, former Franklin polo player, attended the game with Miss Martha Wheeler, who rides his hunters and jumpers in show events. Spectators from Lexington were Mrs. Leo Butler, Mrs. Edwards Spears, wives of Iroquois players, and Mr. and Mrs. William C. McDowell. Mrs. William Wilson exercised her wire-haired terrier. Tresca, during the rest periods of the game. Mr. and Mrs. William Krieg watched the game and cheered enthusiastically.

Club Members Will Swim and Attend Supper Guests of members of the Woman's Athletic Club will attend a swimming party Wednesday evening and a buffet supper to be served from 7 to 9 at the Hoosier Athletic Club. Mrs. Hazel Dwenwig, chairman, will be assisted by Misses Lillian Borgman, Margaret Wacker, Clarabelle Fisher and Neva Cunr.inghom. The club's August calendar also includes a bridge party Wednesday, Aug. 22, on the roof of the Hoosier Athletic Club for members and their guests.

When Miss Norma Deluse traveled in Europe she selected princess lace and net in Brussels, which she has had modeled into her wedding dress and veil. Miss Deluse’s marriage to Dr. Miles Barton will be solemnized at 4 today by Dr. J. Ambrose Dunkel in Tabernacle Presbyterian church. In an informal setting at 4:30 this afternoon at the North Methodist church, Miss Katherine Tarr, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred M. Tarr, 3909 Graceland avenue, will be married to E. Hobart Burgan, son of E. O. Burgan, 4248 Sunset avenue. The Rev. W. W. Wiant will read the ceremony. Lee Welker, organist, will play bridal music. The bride, entering with her father, will wear a shell pink chiffon ensemble with matching large hat. The couple will be honor guests at a dinner at the Charm House, following their marriage. They will travel through Wisconsin and Michigan before they return on Aug. 20 to make their home at 3472 North Illinois street. The bride will travel in a navy blue ensemble.
