BRANDING URGED TO HALT STATE CHICKEN THEFTS Feeney Suggests Plan to Check Loss of 10,000 Fowl Annually. Sagacious Al Feeney, state public safety director, pondering over the theft of 10.000 chickens annually m Indiana, has found a way to deter the desperate crime. Mr Feenev and the state board of agriculture will brand all the chickens in the state. This smart scheme, an echo of horse rustling days, is in force in four states now. When the chicks are old enough, farmers will brand the feathered creatures behind the wings. The brands are in two parts, a state brand and an individual brand, both registered with state police. Hucksters Are Flayed A protesting delegation of poultry and grocery* dealers stormed into the safety board today and demanded that city police arrest itinerant hucksters operating without licenses. Rerescntatives of the Poultry Dealers' Association and the Grocery Dealers’ Association charged that an investigator hired by the groups filed warrants against peddlers, and that the prosecutor's office had failed to serve the warrants. Leroy Reach*, chairman of the commission house national code authority, said that the hucksters were evading the gross income tax and were not complying with NRA requisites.
