'T'ODAY, for the first time in six A years. Loew’s Palace theater has a nets manager. For six years you and I—the pub-

lic and the press—have come in contact with Jac Rex. Mr. Rex today is en route to the New York office of the Loew organization in New Yor>: City, where he will be given a responsible position. At his desk today here is L. W. Farrar, who has been in charge of Loom s theater in Columbus. O. During occasional vacation ab- • srnccs of Mr. Flex. Mr. Farrar has been in charge in Indianapolis. Many readers of The Times have j come in contact with Mr. Rex in connection with many contests con- j ducted by the theater through this paper. Probably the contest with the most human interest that Mr. Rex sponsored through this newspaper was the wire-haired terrier event. More than 500 boys and girLs wrote letters, stating why they would like i to own such a puppy. nun WHEN the puppy arrived Jac and I both fell in love with the little animal. But the contest was carried out to the letter and a little girl was made happy with a thoroughbred terrier. Mr. Rex, in the six years he has! been here, has won for himself the reputation of being a “squarej shooter.” His word was his bond. That extended to every controversy over labor contracts and j more lately when the movie code j was being formulated in this city. I admired Jac Flex for many; things. We never discussed the merit of pictures at his theater. I discuss pictures only in print as far as my newspaper work is concerned. He knew that every picture was not a great picture. He permitted the critic and the public to have j their own opinions.
