He is charged with leaving the scene of an arrident which caused the death of James E Butler. The law. according to defense counsel, is invalid in that it requires a defendant to give evidence against.himself. The Clevenger automobile and one driven by Floyd Butler, in which James E. Butler was a passenger, collided. The passenger was thrown from the car and fell in front of a third automobile which inflicted fatal injuries. Leo Williams, convicted for the third time of a penal offense, is under sentence of ten years in the Indiana reformatory. Sentence was imposed in Shelby circuit court by Judge James A Emert on Williams’ plea of guilty to a charge of auto theft. On the night of June 3. shortly after he had been paroled from the reformatory for stealing an automobile at Greensburg, Williams stole two cars here and attempted to snatch a woman's purse. * Prior to the conviction in Greensburg.
