15 POSTAL MEN HERE SOON TO BE PROMOTED Scheduled for Boosts, Says Seidensticker, Under New Bill. Fifteen local postal employes are scheduled for promotions under the automatic promotion act. signed Wednesday by President Roosevelt, it was announced today by Adolph Seidensticker. postmaster. Through provisions of the act. employes in the lower grades of postal work will be advanced one grade each year. Promotions range from the first grade $1.700-a-year positions to the fifth aade $2,100 positions, providing obtain department approval. The fifteen employes have been deprived of promotions for two years, due to the abandonment of the promotion system by the national economy act in June, 1932 Postal employes have fought for two y?ars for re-estabhshment of the automatic promotions act as well as the postal furlough act. The latter act failed to gain the approval of President Roosevelt, although congress passed it in the recent session. All regular employes, who now enter the lower grades, will bs subject to automatic promotion, postal Officials state. Provisions will be made for some substitute carriers to be promoted to the higher salary brackets, if they have served in the postal department a sufficient length of time. ANNOUNCE JOB EXAMS Tt - Civil Service Positions to Be Filled. Two positions to be filled through civil service examinations were announced today by Frank J. Boatman, local secretary. Room 421 Federal building. Applications for the position of; junior agricultural statistician, paylg $2,000 to $2,600 a year, will be accepted until July 24. DR. BAUER APPOINTED HOSPITAL PHYSICIAN Succeeds Dr. Dugan. Who Will Enter Private Praciice. Dr. William J. Bauer, who has been assistant to Dr. William M. Dugan, resident physician of the Methodist hospital, for the last year, will take up Dr. Dugan's duties Sunday. Dr. Dugan will enter private practice in Indianapolis.
