THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES
BLUE skies overhead and no interruptions are all the stay-at-home vacationists ask when they spend their lazing hours at the country clubs. We interrupted Miss Josephine Reed and Miss Edna Balz during their sun nap following a dip in the Woodstock Club pool, whose green waters glimmer invitingly. Miss Balz’s blue and white checked halterneck style bathing suit had royal blue trunks, and Miss Reed’s coral suit was a mellow contrast to her brunet complexion. Helen and Sylvia Griffith, daughters of Mr. and Mrs. Theodore B. Griffith, visited the club for a tennis match. Helen’s green and white figured dress was gathered at the neckline by ties of matching material, which looped together at the shoulders into perky bows. Sylvia’s brown and white check gingham dress had a deep square sunback. Helen and Sylvia will leave soon for Camp Asquam, Squam Lake. N. H. Mary Lou Westfall, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. Kemp Westfall, and Mary Ann Morrison, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Morrison, don’t waste any playtime “letting the cat die,’’ for after swings on the Highland Golf and Country Club playground, they head for some other exciting fun. Mary Lou and Mary Ann wore plaid gingham play suits, which had skirts buttoned over the shorts and shirt waists. Joan Fox. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. RaymondC. Fox, did her bit in making the Highland outdoor luncheon a success last Wednesday. She modeled styles for L. S. Ayres & Cos. and promenaded around the pool's edge in white gaberdine shorts, red and white striped jersey shirt and floppy white pique sun hat, banded in red. Her mother was a member of the luncheon committee. Mrs. Elsa Pantzer Haerle sat comfortably in the shade of the Woodstock veranda and watched swimmers in" the pool. Her visits to the club aren t always so peaceful, for she has to practice for the tennis championship. Tennis laurels rest between Mrs. Haerle and Mrs. Thomas Harvey Cox. both of whom have held the club women’s championship twice. Mrs. Harold Taylor’s two daughters. Betsy and Sally, are fascinated by Miss Betty Lee Burns’ miniature schnauzer.
