POPULARITY OF ROOSEVELT ON GAINJNSTATE Indiana Vote in Digest Poll Reveals Big Gain Over Last Week. Indiana gradually is building up support for the administration policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt in the Literary Digest poll. The scant margin of 1,973 votes last week for the President today had lengthened to 2,247 in light of further balloting. Os 37,551 votes cast, 19,899 favored the administration and 17,652 repudiated its policies. This lead is in keeping with a nation-wide popularity gain, the Digest reports. Os 19,954 who voted for Roosevelt in 1932, only 4,530 would not do so now. This is more than balanced by the figures for Hoover. Os 15,755 who voted for Hoover in 1932, there are 12,151 who would nqt vote for him now. Firm refusal of Walter J. Kohler, above, Wisconsin industrialist and former Governor, to be a candidate for chairman of the Republican national committee, was due, his friends say, to other political ambitions. Kohler, they assert, plans to enter the race for the United States senate.

VACATION SKIP FOR ROOSEVELT WELLEQUIPPED Books, Movies, Radio and Special Fishing Boats Put on Cruiser. By United Press NEW YORK, June 22.—A1l the comforts of home will go with President Roosevelt when he starts in a few days on a leisurely cruise through the Caribbean, Panama and over the Pacific to Hawaii. On board the specially equipped cruiser Houston he will have everything from his favorite detective stories to new movies direct from Hollywood, special fishing boats, and a radio at his bedside. The Houston was receiving finishing touches at the Brooklyn navy yard today for the voyage. No detail was spared to make the chief executive’s vacation a pleasant one. A comfortable three-room suite has been fitted out amidships under the bridge. The blue-tinted cabin contains a dining table, large radio, flat-topped desk, and couch.
