CITY MAN BEAT DOG FOR SCRATCHING GIRL, IS CHARGE: ARRESTED
Charles Lovel, 821 Sadie street, took the law in his own hands today and was arrested for cruelty to animals, trespassing and drunkenness. Because a dog belonging to Mrs. Katherine Starling. 306 West Wyoming street, scratched his 4-year-old daughter, Lovell is alleged to have beaten the dog severely, breaking its leg. TRACKLESS TROLLEY DECISION IS DELAYED Works Board Postpones Action on West Side Proposal. Action on the proposal of Indianapolis Railways to substitute trackless trolleys for street cars on the Mars Hill branch of the West Indianapolis line was deferred yesterday by the works board, following a public hearing. Controversy between the street car company and the L. J. Smith Bus Company developed during the hearing. The bus concern asked to change its route to follow the same route as the street car company. Such rolling would result in an unfair division of patronage, Charles W. Chase, president of the Indianapolis Railways, asserted. Admits Burning Barns By United Press MT. VERNON, Ind., June 19. Angered because an insurance company had foreclosed on his father’s farms, George Clifford Cornick, 47, New Harmony, burned two barns on the property, he confessed today after being arrested on an arson charge.
