REEVES TAKES COMMAND OF U.J. FLEET Sellers Will Assume Post as Superintedent of Naval Academy. By United Press NEW YORK, June 15.—Admiral David Foote Sellers hauled down his four-starred flag froifi the mainmast of his flagship Pennnsylvania today and turned over the United States fleet to the command of Admiral Joseph Mason Reeves. The transfer of the great American naval armada from the hands of Admiral Sellers was marked by a stirring naval ceremony on the quarterdeck of the Pennsylvania. It was a poignant note in the ceremonies and excitement which have attended the first visit of the fleet to New York harbor for a naval review since 1918. Bugles and drums on the flagship sounded four flourishes and the “Admiral’s March” was plyad as the incoming commander stepped on the flagship's quarterdeck, where officers in bright uniforms and sailors at attention awaited him. Guns Salute Sellers Admiral Sellers and his staff greeted Admiral Reeves and orders ; detaching the former from, duty as [commander-in-chief of the fleet 'were read. Then Admiral Reeves' orders as new commander were :read. ; The fluttering flag of the retiring icommander drifted down from the mast. The big guns of the Pennsyiivania boomed a seventeen-gun salute ‘to Admiral Sellers. From the giant California came an echoing seventeen-gun salute in honor of the new commander, whose flag was hoisted on the Pennsylvania’s main mast. New Mexico Temporary Flagship • Admiral Sellers will report at Annapolis, Md., for his new duty as ; superintendent of the naval academy. I As the Pennsylvania is to proceed to the Bremerton (Wash.) navy yard after departure of the fleet on ! June 18, Admiral Reeves wwill make the U. S. S. New Mexico his flagship temporarily, it was announced. Other changes occurred also cn flagships of major divisions. Vice-Admiral Frank H. Brumby, scouting force commander, assumed former duties of Admiral Reeves as battle force commander, and was elevated to rank of admiral on the U. S. S. California. Vice-Admiral Bromby Succeeded Rear-Admiral Edward Hale Campbell, commandant of the thirteenth naval district, Seattle, Wash., succeeded Vice-Admiral Brumby,

Dr. Daniel W. Morehouse
The 343 students, comprising the seventy-ninth annual graduating class of Butler university, will be addressed Monday morning by Dr. Daniel W. Morehouse, president of Drake university and 1934 Butler commencement speaker. Dr. Morehouse has announced that his topic will be “Expanding Scholarships.” He became an alumnus of Butler in 1932 wjaen the Fairview school conferred upon him the honorary doctor of laws degree. with accompanying rank of viceadmiral on the U. S. S. Indianapolis. Rear Admiral Thomas Tingey Craven first battleship division commander, was commissioned viceadmiral and succeeded Vice-Ad-miral Walton R. Sexton, to command of battleships, battle force, on the flagship U. S. S. West Virginia. Admiral Sexton has been ordered to Washington as member of the general board. Rear-Admiral Thomas J. Senn, ordered to duty as commandant of the twelfth naval district, San Francisco, was relieved by RearAdmiral George Tilford Pettengill, as commander, base force, on the U. S. S. Argonne. $242,700 IN LOANS GO TO COUNTY FARMERS Report Is Made by Farm Credit Association Office. A total of $242,700 of federal land bank and land bank commissioner’s farm mortgage loans were made in Marion county during May, 91.6 per cent of which was used to refinance indebtedness. This report was made today by the Farm Credit Association. Os the loan money used by farmers in this county for refinancing their debts, about $122,300 repaid their debts to banks; $35,700 to insurance companies; $3,900, taxes. $3,600, debts to merchants, and $56,800, creditors not separately classified.
