D. E. WATSON, CITY RAILWAY OFFICIAL, DIES Vice-President of Street Car Company 111 Only One Week. David Emmett Watson, vice-presi-dent and general counsel of Indianapolis Railways, died at his home in Valley Mills last night, after a week's illness. Funeral services will be held in the home at 10 tomorrow, with burial in Cloverdale. Mr. Watson had no immediate survivors. He came to Indianapolis in 1912, and served as trial lawyer and corporation counsel for the Indianapolis Street Railway Company and the Terre Haute Indianapolis <fc Eastern Traction Company. Two and a half years ago, when the street railway company was reorganized, he became vice-president, and at the death of Joseph A. McGowan, president of the company, in 1929. he became acting president. Later, when the company was thrown into receivership, Mr. Watson became business manager for the receiver. He assumed his position as vice-president and general counsel at the reorganization of the company into the Indianapolis Railways, when Chares W. Chase j became president. Mr. Watson was born in Eminence. He received the LL. B. degree from De Pauw in 1892. He practiced law in Putnam county, and served as judge pro tern, of the Owen circuit court. He was a Mason, a member of the Baptist church, the Columbia Club and the Indianapolis Athletic Club. It is said that the banana tree is really an herb.
