SEVEN CHARRED BODIES TAKEN FROMAIR LINER Crew of Three Burned Almost Beyond Recognition in Terrific Crash. By United Press LIVINGSTON MANOR, N. Y., June 12.—Four hearses moved slowly up a tortuous mountain road today toward the wreckage of a huge Curtiss Condor airplane, which crashed Saturday, bringing death to four passengers and its crew of three. They will be used to bring down the bodies of all seven—six men and a woman—who perished when the plane crashed and caught fire on the wooded slope of Mongaup mountain. Bodies of the passengers, pilot, copilot and stewardess, burned almost beyond recognition, were found in and about the charred ruins of the American Airlines plane last night, by a party of searchers who struggled through heavy brush, forests and muddy roads to reach the scene. While cause of the crash was not determined officially, company officials blamed the accident on Saturday’s heavy storm. So great had been the impact of the crash that both motors were torn loose. Within the ship were the bodies of Clyde Holbrook, pilot, La Grange, 111.; John Barron Jr., co-pilot, Chicago, and Miss Ada Huckeby, 28, stewardess, also of Chicago. In a tangled heap clear of the mass of twisted steel lay the bodies of William Bader, 31, chemical engineer of Buffalo; William A. Cass, 26, Buffalo; Harold C. Coppins, 42, Buffalo factory superintendent, and Harry Finsley, New York theatrical booking agent. Department of commerce agents and company officials were on the scene to begin formal investigation. TRAINER WHIPS ANGRY LION INTO SUBMISSION Allen King, Slashed by Great Beast, Finishes World Fair Act. By United Press CHICAGO, June 12.—More than 2,000 persons saw Allan King, animal trainer, whip a Nubian lion into submission in a world’s fair show last night, after the beast had torn a chair from King’s hands and slashed King’s right arm. Restless because of a vivid electrical storm, the lion leaped on King, smashing him to the floor. King jumped up, his right arm dangling useless, flailing at the lion with a whip in his left hand. The animal retreated. A few minutes later, his arm dressed. King re-entered the cage and completed his act. CLARK AT INSTITUTE Y. M. C. A. Swimming Coach Studies at Red Cross Event. James Clark. Y. M. C. A. swimming coach, and director of life saving for the Indianapolis chapter of Red Cross is attending the National Red Cross Institute at Brevard, N. C. He will study advanced courses m life saving, swimming, first aid, pool sanitation, water front safety, rowboating. canoeing and sailboating. Following his return from the institute, Mr. Clark will conduct swimming meets and water polo games in the municipal pools. CODE" MEMBERS NAMED State Men Appointed on Flour Milling Authority. Edgar H. Evans. Indianapolis, has been named on the temporary code authority for the wheat flour milling industry, it was learned here yesterday. The code will become effective tomorrow.
