129 TAKE PART TOMORROW IN SKATINGDERBY Entrants and Spectator? Are Urged to Be on Hand Early. The first annual William H, Block Company-Indianapolis Times Roller Skate Derby, will be held tomorrow afternoon and night at Tomlinson hall. Thrills are promised spectators by the 129 entrants. The public will be admitted free to both sessions, which will begin at 2 and 7:30 respectively, and space for “rooters” has been arranged in the balcony and on the stage. The entire main floor of the hall will be used for the races and. fancy skating exhibitions, and due to the large size of the floor, much speed is anticipated. Because the contest is the first of its kind ever held in Indianapolis, winfiers in each event automatically will become champions in the particular event in which they win. Twelve events, including ten single races, a fancy and figure skating exhibition and a threelegged feature race, will be held. Prizes, which include eleven silver cups and two medals, the latter to go to the winning combination in the three-legged race, will be awarded. - The prizes are being provided by the Block store and will be. presented by a store representative after the final event. The opening heat will start promptly at 2, and each contestant is urged to be at the hall by 1:45, or sooner, if possible. Each contestant has been assigned a number, and these will be passed out to entrants as they arrive. Drawings Are Announced Drawings have been made on the following basks: Girls—l 4 and under, two races, one-quarter and one-half mile, four heats during afternoon in each race, winners only to take part in finals at night. Drawings for the two races made separately, with each contestant facing anew field in the second race. Boys—l 4 and under, two races, one-half mile and one mile, five heats during afternoon in each race, winners only to take part in finals. Drawings' for the two races are made separately. Girls—ls to 17 inclusive, threequarter mile race, four heats, with winners only to take part in finals. Boys—ls to 17 inclusive, one mile race, six heats in afternoon, winners only to take part in finals. One-Mile RaTce Girls—l Band older, one mile race, five contestants, all to take part in finals at night. Boys—l Band older, two mile race, four heats in afternoon, winners only to take part in finals. Girls—ls and older, including entx-ants in both older age classes, one-half mile race, four heats during afternoon, winners only to race in finals. Boys—ls and older, including | entrants in both older age classes, one-half mile race, ten heats dur- | ing afternoon, two semi-final events j at night, winners and second place winners in semi-finals to race in finals. Three-Legged Race Three-legged race—Free for all, one-quarter mile: all entrants entering during the afternoon will be decided by the number of contestants entering. Finals will be held at night. Fancy Skating Exhibition—Free for all, with qualifications to be held in the afternoon. Qualification will be passed on by judges, to be headed in this event by The Times Roller Skate Derby editor. Each entrant in this class passed during the afternoon will be allowed ten minutes for performance at night. Contestants must be at the rink beforehand in order to receive their numbers, have their skates be strapped on, and be ready to begin at the starting gun. Contestants not present at the time they are called will be ruled out of that particular event. Spectators also are urged to come early.
