MISSION ASKS PWA LOAN FOR T. B, HOSPITAL Ruling on Request of City Organization Expected Shortly. WASHINGTON. May 11. Request of the Indianapolis Flower Mission for a combination grant and loan for construction of a tuberculosis hospital now is being studied by three divisions of the public works administration and will be ruled on shortly, it was announced here today. The plan submitted April 6. is being backed by both Senator Frederick Van Nuys and Representative Louis Ludlow. Divisions now having it in hand include the engineering. legal and. financial of P"'A, ail under Interior Secretary Harold L. Ickes, PWA administrator. Should it be approved, it will be placed on the agenda for financing when new' PWA funds are appropriated by congress. The bill for PWA still is pending action, not yet having been brought to the floor in the house. It is this bill which both Senator Van Nuys and Representatve Ludlow will seek to amend to make purchase by the city of the Citizens Gas Company plant possible. The Flower Mission hospital request calls for an outright grant of $31,200 and a loan to create a building fund of $105,000. Mrs. J. D. Ermston is chairman of the Indianapolis Flower Mission committee. The proposed unit, to be located at city hospital, would accomodate about 100 advanced tubercular patients, now without proper hospitalization facilities. The Flower Mission now cares for more than 200 children in the city and provides milk for ninety tubercular families. Through the construction of the two-story unit, the city could segregate the advanced tubercular cases from other patients. Members of the committee working for the Flower Mission project are Mrs. Ermston. Mrs. W. C. Smith and Mrs. Robert Elliott.
