The event, which wiil determine amateur champions in all age classes will be held Saturday. May 26- a< lomunson hall. Eoy and girl skaters who often hp'f claimed supremacy over their schoolmates in the sidewalk sport will have a chance during the derby to demonstrate their skill. Prizes to Be Awarded Champions will be crowned and p- / awarded by The. Times, in re-o,,cration with the Block cornpar y. Youngsters in city grade schools ar~ not the only ones expected to take to the sidewalk for practice. Uigh school pupils, who last spring introduced the fad of skating to and from school, are expected to don the rr’t!~rs again in an attempt to gain w ,nmng form before the starting gun. Entrants in older classes, some of th m regular skaters at local rinks, v . 1 b"gin building up for the harder and longer grinds in which they will be eligible to enter. Three Age Classes Three age classes have been set, the first for children under 14, which will be composed of entrants from city public and parochial schools,

and other schools in the same class elsewhere in the state. The second class will be for boys and girls in high school and junior high school. The age limits in this class are from 14 to 18 and any one within the bounds may participate. In the third class where persons from 18 to 80 will take part there is expected to be a great tussle between college entries and skating rink free-for-alls. Several college fratermities and sororities will be represented in the events. The derby will be run off the same as high school and college track iTK'ets, with regular speed skate rules prevailing. Opening heats and semi-finals will be held at 2 in the afternoon and final events at 7:30 at night. Rink skates will be provided for both afternoon and night meetings. Ent’ants desiring ‘.o use their r.wn skates may do so providing tney have never been used on streets or sidewalks. warded at the earliest possible date to the Rollerskate Derby Editor of The Times. Rules for all events will be given with each entry blank. SKATING PARTY TO BE HELD BY CHURCH CHOIRS Riverside Park Rink to Be Scene of Event Next Week.
