GUARD UNITS AT ANGOLA, VEVAY MUSTERED OUT Former Battery Disbanded Despite Strong Plea to Governor. Despite pleas of delegations of citizens and prominent politicians who visited Governor Paul V. McNutt, thp shifting of the national guard unit at Angola has been ordered by Adjutant-General Elmer F. Straub. Another unit at Vevay also has been ordered mustered out of service and set up elsewhere. This was necessary from a military and economical viewpoint, General Straub explained. Guard shifts today were all in the One hundred and fiftieth field artillery. The headquarters battery and combat tram of the first battalion at Angola was disbanded and the regimental headquarters battery at Muncie designated as the first battalion headquarters and combat train. The regimental headquarters battery was ordered reorganized at Kokomo, giving that city anew guard unit. Headquarters battery and combat train of the third battalion was abandoned at Vevay and the designation shifted to the second battalion battery and train at Spencer. The second battalion battery and train was then ordered reorganized at Lafayette. Enlisted men at Angola and Vevay were honorably discharged and the local officers in command of the disbanded units placed on inactive duty as members of the national guard reserve, General Straub announced New r officers wall be placed in command in the cities where the new- units are being reorganized and enlistments opened. SIGHT RETURNS TO GIRL BLIND SINCEBABYHQOD Miracle, Say Observers of Recovery Shown by Paralysis Victim. Bn Catted Press NEW YORK, April 19.—For the past ten years Gertrude Musier, 21, has been gradually regaining the vision specialists had declared permanently lost as the result of infantile paralysis, it became known today. Her recovery of sight is regarded as almost miraculous. Miss Musier, who w'as stricken with the malady when she was 3, has not been near a doctor since her recovery began, although for several years previous she underwent daily treatment. Her eyes were so bad, it was said, that a specialist in 1924 detected no reaction although he concentrated a brilliant light on the pupil. “And then going home from his office on the train,” said Miss Musier,” I suddenly saw. The conductor came along to take the tickets. I said ‘Look how shiny his buttons are, mother.’ I guess it gave my mother the start of her life.” After that she saw in brief flashes. Still later vision would come to her after a dull pain in her head. “The pain would be there for quite a while,” she said, “and then something would snap and I could see.” Now' her sight is so improved she can attend athletic contests and distinguish players without difficulty.
