HOG PRICES UP 5 TOIO CENTS! VEALS STEADY Underweights Show Most Strength; Cattle Are Uncnanged. Initial ui.,played in hcg trading at me iuuai stoctcyaros this morning, v.itn common grades around 5 cents higher and underweights mostly 5 to 10 cents above yesterday s average. Major livestock centers throughout the nation continued trading today as other markets were closed in observance of Good Friday holiday. Local trading developed slow and receipts were normal for a regular session. Initial bulk of all weights was selling at $4.25 to $4.50. rew good and choice grades were salable up to $4.55. Receipts were estimated at 6,000; hold overs. 1303. Slaughter classes of cattle continued steady witn a week-end cleanup trade prevailing. Receipts numbered 400. Vealers were unchanged, salable at S7 down. Receipts were 800. Lamb market was slow and stationary with previous close. Few wooled lambs ranged from $8 to $9.25. Springers were salable at sl4 down. Receipts were 200. Few early bids and sales on hogs at Chicago remained unchanged with yesteray's average at $4.45 down. Receipts were estimated at 16,000, including 8.000 directs; holdovers, 3.000.
