STREAMLINING MOTIF SHOWN IN LUNCHEONS Suggested Menus Have Weight Curbing as Purpose. The "streamline" luncheon menu has made its debut These menus—a long list of them—are guaranteed not to add to the girth, although each is recommended as a square meal. They were planned by Miss Constance Gaul, who specializes in teaching women how to keep their figures trim enough to get into the season's new “streamline” clothes. All of the menus feature vegetables and fruits that are either current bargains or luscious new novelties in the stores. Asparagus, honeydew melon, strawberries, pineapples. cauliflower, broccoli, spinach, lettuce, tomatoes and cabbage appear in several combinations. Cabbage is there in the form of cole slaw. Kggless Mayonnaise An eggless mayonnaise for the salads is made this way: Use one cup of oil, one tablespoon vinegar and one-quarter cup of evaporated nulk and season to taste with salt, paprika and mustard. Put the milk and seasonings in a cold bowl and beat well. Add one-quarter cup of oil, a litile at a time, beating steadily. Then *he rema'nder of the oil and the vinegar, alternately, putting in a little each time and beating well. Add two tablespoons of evaporated milk and beat again. Below are some of the streamline menus. Each luncheon should begin with a glass of any favorite fruit juice. NO. Food Pals Pork Chops Team Well With Tomatoes.
THERE is a legend which says that the tomato was the apple of temptation in the Garden of Eden. Historical records tends to prove, however, that the plant is native to South America. The tomato is really a fruit, although it is used as a vegetable. For a long time it was thought poisonous, but within the past few years it has won a place of honor among foods because of its vitamin content. Tomato is “chummy” With almost all meat dishes, but 4 t goes especially well with pork chops. Here is a delicious pork chop-to-mato combination which is popular in Mexico and the southwest : Fork chop* Garlic clove Tomatoc*. canned or fresh Chill powder Have the pork chops cut % inch thick. Bruise the end of a garlic clove and rub over each chop. Sprinkle with salt. Roll each chop in flour and brown in hot fat in skillet.
