LOUIS HOWLAND, EDITOR, BURIED IN CROWN HILL Funeral Services Held for Indianapolis News Chief. Services for Louis Howland, editor of the Inidanapolis News, were held yesterday afternoon in the home. 1233 North Pennsylvania street, and later in Alll Saints cathedral. The Right Rev. Joseph M. Frances, bishop of the diocese, was in charge of the services. Burial was in Crown Hill cemetery. Former City Man Dead The body of Winfred B. Holton, 77, Brooklyn, N. Y. will be returned to Indianapolis Saturday for burial. Mr. Holton died yesterday morning in his home. He formerly lived in Indianapolis, and was chairman of the Indianapolis board of public works. At one time he was chairman of the Indiana state board of agriculture. Surviving Mr. Holton are the widow, Mrs. Lula C. Holton: a son, Winfred B. Holton Jr., New York; a daughter Mrs. Ralph Kline, Brooklyn; a brother, Charles A Holton, Toledo, and a sister, Mrs. Walter Woods. Chicago. Aged Woman Succumbs Mrs. Elizabeth Margaret Graham, 82, Bridgeport, 111., died yesterday in the home of her daughter, Mrs L. L. Say, 3407 Park avenue, where she was visiting. Funeral services were to be held at 2 this afternoon in the Flanner & Buchanan funeral home, with the Rev. William F. i Rothenburger, pastor of Third Christian church, officiating Burial was to be in Crown Hill cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Graham are the daughter, Mrs. Say and a son, F. P.! Veteran’s Rites Held Funeral services for Raymond A. Rutt, 45, were to be held at 1:30 this afternoon in the residence, Fifty-eighth street and Lafavette road, and at 2 in the Bethel M. E. church. Mr. Rutt, who was a World war veteran, died Tuesday in the United States Veterans’ hospital in Marion. He had been an employe of the United States Rubber Company for seventeen years. Mr. Rutt had received a citation for his war service. He was a m°mb”r of Centre Lodge, F. & A. M. the American Legion, and the English Lutheran church. Surviving him are the widow, Mrs. Nellie Mae Rutt; a daughter, Betty Jo Rutt: his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Rutt; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah Timmons and Mrs. Mabel Masterson, and two brothers, Reuben Rutt, Bangor, Pa., and Calvin Rutt. Chicago. Mrs. Aimee Graham Dead Following a long illness. Mrs. Aimee Bindley Graham, 57. of 1940 North Delaware street, died yesterday in St. Vincent's hospital. She had been a resident of Indianapolis since her marriage to Dr. A. B. Graham in 1902. Private funeral services were to be held in the home this afternoon, conducted by the Rev. Thomas J. Graham, Louisville. Cremation was to follow. Surviving Mrs. Graham are the widower. Dr. Graham; three daughters, Mrs. William II Calkins, Miss Aimee Graham and Miss Lois Graham. Indianapolis; a son. Edward B Graham. New York; a sister, Miss Delphine Bindley. Terre Haute; and two brothers. Edward Bindley and J. Bruce Bindley, both of Terre Haute. Lawrence Banker Dead After a short illness. George T. Allen, 93. died yesterday in his home in Lawrence. He was affiliated with the Lawrence State bank. Funeral services were to be held at 10 this morning in the residence, with the Rev. L. C. Muir officiating. Burial was to be in the cemetery at Brick chapel, near Bainbridge. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. F. D. Darna’l. Lawrence, and H. L. Allen, Roundup. Mont. Choir Director Passes George B. Kemp. 49. of 5164 North Illinois street, died yesterday in his home, following a short illness. He had lived in Indianapolis thirty years, and operated a filling station at Twenty-fifth street and Keystone avenue. Pie was choir director of the Brightwood M. E. church and a member of the Irvington Masonic lodge and the Scottish Rite. Surviving him are the widow and three daughters, Barbara, Martha and Mary Alice Kemp. Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Martin Koch Succumbs Following a brief illness, Martin C. Kcch. 52. died yesterday in his home. 1359 North Tuxedo street He had been employed at the Haverstick Company, bookbinders and blank book manufacturers for twenty years. He was a member of the First Reformed church and Brookside lodge. F. & A. M. Surviving him are the widow. Mrs. Elise Koch: a daughter, Miss Elizabeth G. Koch, a son. Robert M. Koch. Rigsbee, 4002 North New Jersey street will be held at 3:30 tomorrow in the Central Avenue M. E. church. Burial will be in Crown Hill cemetery. Mrs. Rigsbee died in the Methodist hospital Tuesday. fly Time* Special KOKOMO. March 29.—Constitutionality of Indiana's garnishes law is questioned in a suit filed In Howard circuit court by William Barlow. Defendants are Lewis B. Kellar. constable, and Guy Schwartz. Plaintiff alleges that despite filing of a schedule showing that he was pxempt from garnishment under the garnishee law and under the state Constitution, collection of 10 per cent of his wages each week to satisfy a judgment for a grocery bill obtained by Mr. Schjvartz continues. Judgment in the case was for the bill. $10.13, and ip addition, $4.50 court costs. The case was tried before C. T. Brown, a Justice of the peace.
Widow Denied Aid By 7 1 mis Special SHELBYVILLE, March 29. Claim of Mrs. Hattie Gaines for compensation as the result of the death of her husband. George R. Gaines, Shelbyville street employe, killed on Nov. 22, 1933, has been denied by the state industrial board. The board ruled that Mr. Gaines, who lost his life in a runaway of a team of horses, was not killed by an accidental injury arising out of or in the course of his employment. Had Mrs. Gaines been awarded her claim, the city would have paid her $1,980. ana , Traffic Victim Buried Bu Tim< * Fpedal LEBANON. March 29 Funeral services were held today for Olan P. Hall, 24, injured fatally when struck by the truck or automobile of a hit and run driver. Cobbler Accused I By Times Special BLOOMINGTON, March 29.—Otis I Lindsey, shoe cobbler, will be tried at the April term of Monroe Circuit ' court on a charge of receiving stolen property, based on an allegation that belting valued at $225, stolen by Ben Ward, was found in his posi session. On a plea of guilty to grand larceny, Ward was given a suspended I sentence of one to ten years in the ! state reformatory. Convicted of malicious trespass in connection with the theft, Ward was sentenced to the penal farm for five months. He has begun serving the term.
