blood will tell
ONE of the mysteries of life is how much care a man will take of thoroughbred animals noting when they are “off” ... and toning them back to the “pink of condition” to increase their daily usefulness—yet will shamefully neglect his own run-down condition. Certainly, there is a pardonable pride in an animal’s healthy appearance ... but human beings are more important than animals. Yet some people just hope when “run-down” that they will “come around.” It is just good “horse-sense” to reflect 3nd reason that your so-called “tired feeling” may come from a lowered red-blood-cell count and the hemo-glo-bin in these cells. There is a remedy specially designed to bring back strength to weakened blood ... and no one can be strong, healthy, happy, and full of vitality when in a run-down condition. S.S.S. Blood Tonic is a time-tested remedy for restoring deficient red-blood-cells and a low hemo-glo-bin content. If you suspect an organic disease consult your physician ... if you feel weak ... lack a keen appetite ... if your skin is pale and off-color ... try S.S.S. as a part of your regular daily diet. Take it just before meals. Unless your case is exceptional, you should soon notice a pick-up in your appetite .. . your color and 6kin

should improve with increased strength and energy. . . S.S.S. is not just a so-called tonic but a tonic specially designed to stimulate gastric secretions, and also basing the mineral elements so very, very necessary in rebuilding the oxygen-carrying hemo-glo-bin of the blood to enable you to “carry on” without exhaustion as you should naturally. CLARK AIDED IN JAIL SLAYING, SHOUSECLAIMS Terror Mobster’s Former Pal Brought From Prison to Testify. (Continued From Page One) was the cause of the trigger man's alleged oath to “knock him ofi.” Flying squadrons of soldiers continued fruitless sorties in various parts of Allen county today in a search for Dillmger. Early today a patrol of steel-hel-meted soldiers, accompanied by Larry Vanskaik of the Ohio national guard criminal identification bureau. left Brigadier-General Harold M. Bush's headquarters here in a search for Dillinger and his gang. “Frankly, I don't think Dillinger is in Lima today.” said General Bush. “My maneuvers are merely a matter of routine now.” General Bush said that Clark's suspicious actions in the lower corridors of the courthouse yesterday while being led from the courtroom, where he is being tried for his life, to the jail led to a more rigid search of all persons seeking admission to the courtroom during the trial. Clark Sneers at -Witness Clark, according to General Bush, took a great interest in the position of all doors leading from the courthouse to the street, and at one time, his guards reported, Clark crouched as though to spring through a door leading into an alley back of the courthouse. It was noted during the trial ’ es~ terday that Clark lost his lethargic attitude which has earned him the name of “sleepy” among | the spectators, when Art Miller, state’s witness and convicted murdered, told of purported gang hideouts in Indiana and Ohio which he alleged Dillinger had told him about. Clark sat bolt upright in his chair while Miller testified and listenede to every w r ord His dark eyes smoldered and his lips curled in a sneer. When Miller finished, Clark relaxed and slumped into his customary attitude of indifference. As court opened this morning. Prosecutor Ernest Botkin announced a surprise witness, Sergeant Chester Sherman of the Tucson (Ariz.) po- ( lice force, who participated in the ! capture of the terror mob in Tucson. Sherman Suprise Witness It was Sergeant Sherman who battled with Clark, finally subduing the gangster by beating him on the head with the butt of his revolver. Sergeant Sherman also attracted attention by his verbal battle wiih Captain Matt Leach of the Indiara state police, at the Tucson railroad station. On the witness stand, Sherman told of the arrest of Clark and other members of the gang in Tucson. After observing Makley and a woman leave the house used by the gang, he said, he followed Makley and arrested him in a’ radio store, refusing Makiey’s request to permit him to return to the house and obtain papers proving his identification as another man. Stationing officers at vantage points, he said, the sergeant, pencil and paper in hand, walked to the porch of the house and pretended to have a letter from Makley to Clark, under their aliases. Tells of Fight When Sherman refused to give the letter to the woman, Opal Long, who answered the door, Clark, who had started for the back of the house, where machine guns were hidden, came up and took the letter. The officer said he drew his revolver, which Clark grabbed, Sherman being pulled into the house and into a bedroom in the struggle. When Clark tried to reach under a pillow for a revolver, the officer beat him on the hand and subdued him, as other officers arrived.
