RELIEF PROGRAM DISCUSSED BY CWA LEADERS Permanent Organization Is Topic of Seven States’ Representatives. A permanent relief program for the United States was discussed at a meeting of CWA and relief heads from seven states here this morning. Howard O. Hunter. CWA field representative for the district was in charge. Also present was John Carmody. national CWA chief engineer. Instructions were given and technicaalities discussed for demobilizatio nos 4.000 000 civil works employes by May 1. The dominant note of the meeting was that no ex-CWA employe would be in want. Public works programs and private industry are expected to absorb many. What the ne wfederal employment structure will be was no indicated. However, delegates were told to instruct demobilized workers to rerepi ter at government employment agencies. wnnain Book, state CWA administration and Fred Hoke, state director of the National Emergency Council, were present at the meeting. States represented were Indiana. Wisconsin, Kentucky, Illinois, Ohio, Michigan and West Virginia. 1.500.000 TREES WILL BE PLANTED IN STATE Reforestation Mapped for Strip Mine Area in Indiana. Order for 1,500,000 trees for painting on strip mine areas in southwestern Indiana have been received by the forestry division of the state conservation department, it was announced today. The trees will cover 1,500 acres. There will be 800.000 black locust j and 700,000 evergreens. Planting j will be done by the coal companies,j the order having been placed by the Indiana Coal Producers Associ- j ation. Ir. certain fields. Boy Scouts will aid. $248,557.50 LOANED TO HOOSIER FARMERS Borrowings on Sealed Corn Are Announced by Commissioner. Three hundred and forty-four Hoosier farmers have borrowed $248,557.50 from the Commodity Credit Corporation on 552,350 bush- J els of corn sealed in 463 cribs, ac- i cording to a tabulation today by Martin Lang, state commissioner of weights and measures, who is in i charge of sealing. Loans totaling $20,000,000 are expected to be made in the state. CHILDREN'S FILM SET Expedition Pictures to Be Shown at Museum Tomorrow. Films taken by the children's museum expedition to the northwest last summer will be shown and discussed by Hillis L. Howie, expedition director, at the museum at j 10:30 tomorrow. The program is free to all boys and girls.

Announcement that he will seek the Democratic nomination for sheriff at the May primary was made today by Claude E. Shover, 2002 Prospect street. Mr. Shover ran second to the present sheriff, Charles L. Sumner, at the last primary and is Big Four railroad yardmaster at the Hill yards. With a record of five years as member of the Indianapolis police department, Mr. Shover declares himself fitted to give the citizens an administration of law enforcement and business and executive management of the jail and sheriff's office. He will seek the support of labor and regular Democratic organizations. He is married and has three children.
SCHEDULE HEARING ON MILK PRICE SITUATION Open Meeting Ffb. 28 Announced by Lieutenant-Governor. An open hearing on the milk price situation is being planned for Feb. 28, Lieutenant-Governor M. Clifford Townsend announced today. The Lieutenant-Governor said that the location of the proposed meeting will be announced later. Notice of the open hearing followed reports that an increase of at least 1 cent a quart in the price of milk will be made here if the price established tentatively in this area by the United States department of agriculture is adopted.
