Actual voters eight, town council ten. and all must be present to elect a mayor or pass an ordinance. Unfortunately. the mayor died and another vote-councillor quit the district. Why Doctors Favor a Liquid Laxative

A doctor will tell you that the careless use of strong laxatives may do more harm than good. Marsh laxatives often drain the system, weaken the bowel muscles, and even affect the liver and kidneys. Fortunately, the public is fast returning to laxatives in liquid form. The dose of a liquid laxative can be measured. The action can thus be regulated to suit individual need. It forms no habit; you needn’t take a "double dose” a day or two later. Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin gently helps the average person’s bowels back to regularity. Why not try it? Some pill or tablet may be more convenient to carry. But there is little “convenience” in any cathartic which is taken so frequently, you must carry it with you, wherever you go! Its very taste tells you Dr. Caldwell’s Syrup Pepsin is wholesome. A delightful taste, and delightfulaction. Safe for expectant mothers, and children. All druggists, ready for tise, in big bottles. CUTTING TO GET DEMOCRATIC AID IN SENATE RACE Progressive Republican of New Mexico Helped Roosevelt. By Unitr<l Press WASHINGTON. Feb. 16.—A way is to be found shortly whereby the administration may render first aid to Bronson Cutting. Progressive Republican senator from New Mexico. Senator Cutting backed Mr. Roosevelt against former President Hoover in 1932. As in the similar case of Senator Hiram Johnson ißep., Cat.), there shortly will be proposals from Democratic sources outside the administration that the party aid the wealthy young liberal in his election battle this year. There will remain then the problem of “Young Bob” La Follette, whose senate seat also is in jeopardy. Senator La Follette led the progressive Republican hosts of the northwest to Mr. Roosevelt in 1932. Postmaster-General James A. Farley found it easy to extend the administration benediction to Johnson and Cutting's case is almost as simple. But Wisconsin Democrats would like to back a party man against La Follette this year. The caution guiding Farley in California and New Mexico will be redoubled for Wisconsin. VIENNA REBELS PRAISED Soviet Journalist Praises Conduct of Socialists. By United Press MOSCOW, Feb. 16. Writing in the newspaper Pravda, the journalist expressed his sympathy and admiration of the battle of the Austrian proletariat.
