MENDELSSOHN 1 AIRS CHOSEN FORCONCERT Program for Jan. 30 Event at Murat Announced by Symphony Group. There have been few case* In the history of music to parallel the life of FeUx Mendelssohn, whose whimsical and fairy-like “Midsummer Night’s Dream" music will be played by the Indianapolis Symphony orchestra at Its next concert. Jan. 30, at the Murat theater. A musical genius, who proved an exception to the rule, in that all the graces seemed to shower upon him their richest gifts, his compositions reflect the charm and felicity of his life. Though he died at 36. his works have placed him among the Titans of music, and are neted for their spontaneity and delicacy of instrumental coloring. Will Play Three Excerpts The orchestra will play three ex- j cerpts, the “Intermezzo.” “Nocturne" and "Scherzo" from the score of one of his greatest triumphs. In direct contrast, the program will include works by three other German composers, Bach, Beetho- : ven and Von Weber. With the exception of Bach, all were writing at about the same time, the end of the eighteenth and first half of the nineteenth centuries. Yet. all wrote for all time, bequeathing immortal legacies to the world of art. Will Offer Request Numbers Two of these epoch-making compositions. the ‘■Overture" to ‘ Der Frieschutz" by Weber, and the "Fifth Symphony." by Beethoven, will appear on the program. The Bach number, “Air,” from “Suite in D Major,” is by special request. In assuming responsibility for the demands of the evening. Ferdinand Schaefer, the director, will draw upon a fund of knowledge and experience gained when he won his own musical spurs under some of the greatest of European conductors. The weasel dons its snowy w’hite coat for winter only in cold regions; in southern regions it remains brown.

Mrs. Millie Prince By United Press NEW YORK, Jan. 26.—Mrs. Millie Prince. 31, was reunited with her husband and 10-year-old son today after a Queens county jury acquitted her of second degree murder for stabbing Charles J. Wolfert, Astoria jeweler who was twenty-five years her senior. Robbery Suspect Questioned % Police today arrested Kenneth Wright, 27, at 1149 Linden street, on vagrancy charges for questioning in connection with the robbery of the Standard Oil filling station at Davidson and Michigan streets.

SERUM FOUND TO ! CURE YELLOW FEVER Several Died in Experiments Lasting Eight Years. By United Press PASADENA. Cal., Jan. 26. Yellow fever can be cured by anew immunizing serum, the development of which cost several lives, Dr. George Vincent said today. Dr. Vincent, former president of the Rockefeller Foundation, said the serum was developed after eight years of experimentation. One of the processes of development, he said, was inoculating the virus in 100 white mice to weaken it to such an extent that it might be inoculated in human beings. Several sufferers died when inoculated with the serum before it was learned that, white mice could be used.
