GWA PAY ROLLS IN STATE FACE $556,000 CUT Weekly Reduction ta Result From Order Lowering Working Hours. Reduction of 1556.000 a week in rivil works administration pay rolls In Indiana will result from a federal CWA order to cut working hours to twenty-four a week in cities of 2.500 and more, and to fifteen in smaller communities. State CWA officials said the order would mean reducing time of CWA employes one-third. The cut was made by the federal officials, effective immediately, to keep the CWA Within its budget, it was explained. In the future, it was added, no new workers will-bc employed except in replacing those who have resigned or been removed from pay rolls. The ruling also banned purchase of materials by the state CWA or CWA projects, without specific federal authority. In Indiana, materials have been paid for by the state only when local units were unable to supply the money and the projects were considered particularly desirable.
