City Fives Get Ready Week-End Cage Tourney Spurs Teams in Practice. Plve Indianapolis of I H. S. A A. today reached the peak of their drills for the annual city basketball tournament in Tech gymnasium Friday night and Saturday. Tech’s defending city champions went through a strenuous scrimmage session yesterday, with Coach Tim Campbell reviving instructions on hardwood fundamentals. Shortridge, Tech's opponent Friday night, staged a lengthy defensive practice session under Kenneth Peterman's eyes yesterday and another hard practice was slated for today. The defense rehearsal was followed by a half hour s scrimmage with reserves. Peterman said his squad was in good shape for the Tech fray, with the exception of Jack Bems. forward. who suffered a hip injury in the Martinsville game last Saturday night. Coach Rowland Jones put his Washington Continentals through a stiff workout yesterday, shaping them to meet Broad Ripple in their first city tourney game Saturday. Greely alternated with McDonald and Cherry at forward, and Roberts and Kasnak showed up well in the practice session. Broad Ripple s cagers have been working daily to get in condition to meet the improved west siders. Washington already holds a regular campaign victory over the boys from the northern reaches of White river. Manual's Redskins, who drew a bye in the first round of the tourney and who first will see action in the semi-finals Saturday afternoon, have been working on their offensive system since their tilt with Cathedral last Friday night.

Several days ago the owner set the maximum weight they would accept at 128 pounds. Gallant Sir won last year’s race in a walkaway. The schedule showed Kerry Patch and the gigantic Craig Park, English horse, assigned 120-pound 'mposts.
