GRAIN FUTURES DROP FRACTIONS IN SLOW DEALS Uneven Selling Responsible for Decline: Foreign News Bearish. BY HARMAN W. NICHOLS United Press Staff Correspondent CHICAGO. Dec. 26.—The effects of the silver buying announcement of last Friday had worn off and scattered selling at the opening of the Board of Trade sent grain prices fractionally lower today. Wheat futures were unchanged to ’•* cent lower, corn was unchanged to % cent lower and oats ranged from % cent easier to % cent higher. Leading brokers considered the action of the market a psychological one. It is encouraging to wheat traders to note improvement in the tone in European markets, as the news from abroad has been discouraging for a long time. Liverpool reported Saturday that Canadian parcel lots were 6d per quarter higher, and there is also some indication that Canadian export business will not suffer as much from southern hemisphere competition as is usually the case. Seme leading continental interests believe that European production of wheat was overestimated this year, and that import requirements for the season wnll be larger than current estimates indicate. INDIANAPOLIS WAGON WHEAT . City grain elevators are paving 76 cents for No. 2 soft red wheat. Other grades on their merits.
