HUEY FIGHTS BREAKUP OF HIS MACHINE Regular Democratic Leader Withdraws Support of ‘Kingfish.’ liu r nitrit ]'r< . NEW ORLEANS. Deo. 2L—Senator Huey P. Long today fought against disintegration of his political machine which in four years placed him in control of all of tne State's important offices, including the governorship and the two senate seats. Whiie revolt against the machine flared in all parts of the state, th" dominant Orleans Democratic organization, which had worked hand in glove with Senator Long for three years, set about to systematically destroy every vestige of the alliance. Many competent observers believed that without the aid of the citv organization. Senator Long's power would Ire lost. Others thought the next election would find the two machines working together again. Long Directs Defense Senator Long himself directed the defame while New Orleans police arrested henchmen attempting to place the senator's cause before the voters bv means of hand bills. Seven .mm, six state employes, w-ere arrested for distributing hand bills without a license. Mayor T. Semmes Walmsley, leader of the old regulars heretofore a Long ally, announced that his organization was through with "he senator for good and all. The old regulars had endorsed the candidacy of district attorney Eugene .Stanley (or r*iomination in the party primary next month. Senator l ong opposed Mr. Stanley who conducted an investigation into last November's election which culminated with 513 Long election commissioners being indicted for fraud. The first three tried were convicted. Police superintendent George Rover. who is responsible to the mayor, ordered the police detail that, has guarded Senator Long's mansion, withdrawn. Anti-Long Meetings Held A half dozen anti-Long mass meetings were held throughout the state last night. In Hammond, center of the Sixth congressional district where a recent voters’ rebellion interfered with a primary election to select the successor of the late Congressman Boliver Kemp, the Hammond shotgun club was organized. The club announced that its members had to be “eligible to carry .shotguns and traverse a few miles in the event an emergency calls them out.” A club spokesman said: "It is likely our club will fill a longfelt need.” The club's membership is secret. A third of Louisiana's voting strength is concentrated in New Orleans. In previous elections. Long backed issues have lost in the parishes but were given sufficiently high majorities here for victory. Escapes Unhurt in Crash A hit and run driver struck a car driven by Ivan Chaplin, 40, of 317 West Thirtieth street, yesterday at Thirtieth street and Boulevard plare. girl friends seemed to enjoy the curiosity of statehouse employes and the questions of newspaper men. But any one looking for the answers—all the answers—to the "life of a gun moll.” would be disappointed in Ruth and Frances. Ruth, slim and redheaded, dressed in a blue and red cloth dress seemed to think their detention by the police amusing. Frances, a muddv-blond In a plaid

She had just been asked what it felt like to ride around with an escaped convict member of the “terror mob.” Ruth giggled. 'T w-as bom in Kansas.” she said, the comical state of Kansas. There’s
nothing romantic about that, is there? Later in life, when I was a big girl, I wlnt to California — ‘ Where you met Shouse,” a reporter interjected. “Yes, I met Shouse and he’s one nice guy. He treated me swell.-’ Under questioning, it developed that Shouse had been a "perfect gentleman" all during the three w-eeks the girls had been with him. Miss Spencer, it developed, had
been with the escaped convict since their meeting in California three weeks ago. “Mrs." Colin Joined the pair just before they went to Chicago. They never met Dillinger. alleged leader of the “terror mob." during their stay in the Windy City, both women claimed. Nor did they know that their escort was a mobster. They knew him only as "Homer
