Four Butler Groups Will Hold Dances Formal Holiday Events Scheduled by Greek Letter Bodies. Holiday social activities of Greek lek.er organizations at Butler university will be climaxed this week with annual formal dances. Four sororities have scheduled affairs tomorrow night. Kappa Alpha Theta. Delta Delta Delta. Alpha Chi Omega and Pi Beta Phi. Miss Betty Ramey is in charge of the Theta dinner dance to be held at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. Her assistants will be Misses Jane Crawford, Magdalene Adams, Charlene Heard and Agnes Hinkle. Blue and silver decorations will be Used in the dining room. Hal Denman’s orchestra will play during the evening. Professor and Mrs. George Shumacner. Professor and Mrs. Milton Baumgartner and Mrs. Mary Keegan will be chaperons. Tri Delts to Dance The Tri Delt formal dance is in charge of Miss Lois Forsythe. The chapter house. 809 West Hampton drive, will be decorated in keeping with the holiday. Chaperons will Include Mrs. Ann B, Repass, Dr. and Mrs. Guy H. Shadinger. Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Mackey. Harry McKee's Melodians will play. Hillcrest Country Club will be the ecene of the Alpha Chi formal dance which is in charge of Miss Josette Yelch. Miss Eleanor Holt is arranging the dance of the Pi Beta Phi sorority which will be held at the Highland Golf and Country Club, Other Events Set Three dances are set for Thursday night. Holly, mistletoe and lighted Christmas trees will decorate the Indianapolis Athletic Club’s main ballroom for the Delta Gamma sorority dance. Miss Virginia Garr is chairman. Dr. and Mrs. Merwyn Bridestine, Mrs. Josephine S. Fry and Donald Sparks will be chaperons. Phi Delta Theta fraternity will hold its holiday dance at the chapter house, 705 West Hampton drive and Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity also will entertain at its chapter house, 4721 Sunset avenue. Christmas dance of the Newman Club, to be held Friday night at the Indianapolis Athletic Club, will conclude the Christmas activities. J. H, Davidson is chairman.

DINNER TO PRECEDE PLAY BY CLUB

Mr. and Mrs. A. Ewing Sinclair will enterain at dinner Saturday night at their home, 3753 Totem lane, preceding the Dramatic club performance of “Within the Law.” Covers will be laid for Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Ruckelshaus, Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Greathouse, Miss Jane Wadley and William H. Stafford, Jr.

Daily Recipe COMPOTE OF PEARS AND APPLES Pare two large cooking apples, core them and cut them into eighths. Add one and one-third cups water and one cup sugar to the syrup from a No. 2 can of pears, add a few cloves and boil for three or four minutes. Add apples and simmer gently until tender but still in perfect shape. Remove apples and add the pears, whole or cut in halves, and cook until very soft and the syrup becomes somewhat thickened. Remove pears to dish with apples and strain syrup over. Chill. Senes eight.

Flower Mission Votes to Help Needy Families All 103 families now receiving aid from the Indianaoplis Flower Mission will be remembered this week with Christmas gifts, it was decided yesterday at the meeting of the board of directors of the mission in the Architects and Builders building. Mrs. David Ross presided. Mrs. James H. Lowes is in charge of the project. GOVERNOR’S MANSION IS PARTY SCENE

A centerpiece of poinsettias and holly, lighted by red tapers, appointed the tea table this afternoon at the Governor's mansion when Mrs. Paul V. McNutt entertained fifty guests. Mrs. Bowman Elder and Miss Lucy Taggart, seated at the table, poured. Musical program was presented during the afternoon byMrs. Louis Becovitz and Mrs. George Henley, both of Bloomington. Governor and Mrs. McNutt and their daughter Louise will leave Dec. 26 for Miami Beach, Fla. They plan to return Jan. 15.
