GRADE HONORS s EARNED BY 288 AT SHORTRIDGE Second Period List Longer Than for Preceding Six Weeks. Two hundred eighty-eight pupils of Shortridge high school have been placed on the four honor rolls for ths second six weeks* period of the first semester. Os this number thirty-seven were upper classmen who achieved the twelve graue points necessary to qualify them for the high honor roll. Ten Junior high school pupils were placed on the junior .high i honor roll, while fifty-two made the honor roll proper. Os the upper classmen, 189 achieved the eight grade points necessary for the honor roll. The total of honor pupils is an increase over the first six weeks' grade per.od when only 224 achieved distinction. School 62, Wallace and Tenth streets, w*ll hold a meeting next Wednesday at 1:30 in the school auditorium. Following a short business session the traditional nativity pageant will be presented by P\he junior high school. The vinegaroon, or whip-tailed scorpion, of the southwestern United States, emits a vinegar-like odor when disturbed.

The Jordan Conservatory of Music has awarded a one-year scholarship to Dorothy Paul, 419 North State avenue, honor pupil at Technical high school. Miss Paul, a former pupil of School 9, is a soloist in the choir of the Clemens Vonnegut school.

Christmas Play Will Be Given by Manual Pupils
Orchestra and Glee Clubs Will Assist in Program. “The Light Upon the Way,” a Christmas play, will be presented under the direction of Mrs. Bess Sanders Wright, in the auditorium of Washington high school at 8 p. m. Wednesday, Dec. 20. The program will Include Christmas music by the orchestra, under the direction of Miss Maude Delbridge, and a musical prologue by the Glee Clubs, led by Miss Etta Scherf.

Cathedral Rings Arrive Cathedral seniors recently received class rings, which are of gold with black onyx as a background, for the '34 emblem. Chancellor Adolf Hitler or any other Nazi luminary to act as godfather to their children must satisfy the state that the prospective godchild is the ninth living legitimate child, or the seventh living son of the same father, it was announced today. The family, according to a decree issued by Minister Hermann Goering, must be “hereditarily sound and of Aryan descent.” The reputation and political attitude of the family and all its members must be blameless.
