R, R. BENNEn. EXPLORER. DIES IN WASHINGTON Former Resident Was Weil Known for Work in Central America. Robert Root Bennett. 68, noted explorer and former Indianapohs resident, died yesterday morning in the Emergency hospital, Washington, following an operaton. He is the brother of Henry W. Bennett of this city. Mr. Bennett was sent to Central America on a government mission and directed exploration of ancient ruins in southern Florida, Guatemala, the islands of Mugeres and Cosumel, in Yucatan, Panama ana the Isthmus of Darien. He was born in Toledo, 0., and came to Indianapolis with his parents. He spent his youth here. He was graduated from Columbia law school, Washington, and was admitted to the bar there in 1904. He left the practice to become a department of justice special agent and later became a confidential agent for the w-ar department. He was a member of the Archeological Institute of America. Anthropological Society of America, American Museum of Natural History, American Bar Association, District of Columbia Bar Association, Society of Mayflower Descendants, Society cl Colonial Wars, Military Order of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Italian-American Society, Army and Navy Club, University Club. National Press Club and the Explorers’ Club. Surviving him are the widow and brother. Funeral services and burial will be held in Washington today. Joseph F. Baker Dead Following a brief illness Joseph F. Baker, 74, died yesterday in the home of his niece, Mrs. Joseph Helmer, 329 North Holmes avenue. He was born in North Vernon and lived here ten years until 1917, when he returned to North Vernon. A month ago he came to Indianapolis to live with his niece. Surviving him are a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Balsey, Gardein, Cal.; two brothers, Peter Baker, Hayden and George Baker, North Vernon, and his niece, Mrs. Helmer. Funeral services and burial will* be held in St. Joseph's Catholic church in Four Corners. The time has not yet been decided. l Found Dead in Room Oscar Minor. 60. of 744 Lexington avenue, was found dead in his room yesterday. He lived at the home of Harry Powell. Dr. E. R. Wilson, deputy coroner, sent the body to the city morgue pending further investigation. Surviving him are a /sister, Mrs. Edna McCracken, Chicago, and a brother, Buzz Minor, Indianapolis. ROCKEFELLER RELAPSE IN ILLNESS IS DENIED Advanced Age of Multimillionaire Cause of Concern. By I'nited Press TARRYTOWN, N. Y.. Dec. 13. Reports that John D. Rockefeller Sr., convalescing from an attack of grippe, had suffered a relapse were answered today by the explanation that it was his age and not his sickness that caused concern. The multimillionaire is 94. A spokesman at the Pocantico hills Roockefeller estate, said the family was worried because of his advanced years, although he appeared to be recovering from a cold. If Rockefeller’s condition becomes worse, occasional bulletins will be issued, it was said.

DR. JOHN BENSON TO ADDRESS Y. M. C. A. ‘Big Meeting’ Is Planned for Sunday. Dr. John E. Benson, superintendent of the Methodist hospital, will be the principal speaker at the Y. M. C. A. "Big Meeting” at 3 Sunday afternoon at the English theater. “Shall We Default Christmas?” will be the subject of Dr. Benson's address. The effect of defaulting Christmas as it applies socially, economically and religiously will be discussed. The Christmas of the "Big Meeting” will be observed next Sunday because of the holiday until Jan. 7, when the series will be resumed. Christmas melodies will be given in a program by the Y. M. C. A. young people’s orchestra under the direction of Leslie Troutman. The meeting is open to the general public without charge. I). K. E.
