Can’t keep down that chuckle, can you, Santa? ’Member when his Daddy was a boy, do you? And his Daddy’s daddy? Same old scrawly letters, eh? Same old salutation! Same old pleas and promises! Best of all, the same old faith that Santa would be down that chimney Christmas eve! % Young America, we never failed him yet! Always the same old grin on Christmas morning! For there by the fireside hung the bulging stocking! And there under the tree were the gifts that proved Santa answered those laboriously written letters.

THE INDIANAPOLIS TIMES .

But Santa, whose was the greater joy? Was it the boy’s on Christmas Day? Or was it Dad’s that night he sneaked in under cover of the dark .... that night he stowed the gay red sled with the shiny runners in the attic’s furthermost corner? Was it that dear little girl’s on Christmas morning? Or was it a happy mother’s when she covertly locked in the bureau drawer that flaxen-haired doll with eyes that opened and shut? Write on, young America! Your smiles are as certain Christmas as the love which hovers over you. We never failed you yet!
