Dinner Will Be Tendered to Children Sisters and Guild of St. Vincent’s Will Be Hostesses. One hundred poor children will attend a Christmas party and turkey dinner Dec 21 as guests of the Sisters of Charity of St. Vincent hospital and members of the St. Vincent Hospital Guild. Mrs. Ellard B Duane, president, was in charge of the guild meeting yesterday at the nurses' home when the program of the organization was decided. Annual meeting of the guild will be held Jan 2 at the nurses' home, it was announced. The board will elect three new members from a list of candidates presented by the nominating committee. They are Mesdames J. William Wright, H. S. Noel, John Darmody, W. L. Brant, Paul Ferguson, Thomas Blackwell, Fred Pettijohn, J. L. Storey and Miss Alice McGowan.

Second annual homecoming lor students of St. John academy will be held from 3 to 5 Sunday afternoon at the academy. Mrs. Mary Brady Comerford Is general chairman. Assisting Mrs. Comerford with the arrangements are the following committees: Reception, officers of alumnae; invitations, Misses .Sarah M. Boland, Helen Wernsing, Mary Werner and EiWn Moore; decorations, Misses Snntina Bondi, Helen Armstrong, Dorothy Filcer, Florence Allison, Florence Fendel and Margaretta Schoettle; registration. REPUBLICAN CLUB ELECTS OFFICERS Mrs. Samuel H. Fletcher will serve as president of the Indiana Woman’s Republican Club for the coming term. Mrs Helen J. Karnes is retiring president. Other officers, recently elected, are Mrs. A. A. Kist, Portland, first vice-president; Dr. Amelia Keller, second vice-president; Mrs. L. F. Pomush, corresponding secretary; Mrs. Ellen Heidergott, recording secretary, and Mrs. Blanche McKinney, treasurer. Directors include Mrs. Henry Campbell, Mrs. Charles Miller, Mrs. Florence Riddick Boys, Plymouth, and Mrs. Harlan Ratliff, TRAVEL CLUB WILL HEAR MRS. Charities Get Donation From Alumnae Funds Donations to local charities were voted at the meeting of the board of directors of the Indianapolis Alumnae Association of Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority yesterday at the American National bank. Gifts will include $5 for Marion County Tuberculosis Association health bonds; $5 to American Red Cross; $5 to Bridgeport nutrition camp; donations to lunch funds of the local high schools and Christmas baskets. Mrs. L. H. Millikan, chairman of the association endowment fund, announced SSO returns from the sale of Brown county dolls. The organization also is seling Kappa vases. Mrs. Millikan heads the annual Christmas party of the association to be held Dec. 16 at the Marion County Children’s home. She will be assisted by Mrs. Howard Caldwell, Mrs. Joseph Ostrander and Miss Kathryn Wilhelm. Club to Hear Editor Talcott Powell, editor of The Indianapolis Times, will speak before the Writers Club at 8 tonight at the Y. W. C. A.

Mrs. Brower Is Chairman for Bridge Affair Mrs. Joseph A Brower will serve as chairman of hostesses for a luncheon and bridge party to be held Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the Indianapolis Athletic Club. Assisting Mrs. Brower with hospitalities will be Mrs. E. W. Berger, Mrs. Dudley Gallahue, Mrs. Henry Churchman. Mrs. Harry Scott, Mrs. William Mooney, Jr., Mrs. John Twitty and Mrs. Fred Shumaker. Daily Recipe WASHINGTON PIE 2 cups sifted cake flour 2 teaspoons combination baking powder t-k teaspoon salt 1 cup sugar 2 eggs, well beaten 1 tablespoon jnelted butter or other shortening 3-i cup hot milk 1 teaspoon vanilla Sift flour once, measure, add baking powder and salt, and sift together three times. Beat sugar gradually into eggs. Add butter; then flour, alternately with milk, a small amount at a time. Beat after each addition until smooth. Add flavoring. Bake in two greased 9-inch layer pans in moderate oven (300 degrees Fahrenheit) 25 minutes. Spread raspberry jelly or jam between layers. Sift powdered sugar over top.
